on screen keyboard

Move this to feature requests if it should go there.

I see some requests for a search function, but in the meantime is it possible to hotkey an on screen keyboard. This way I can do without a keyboard altogether; hit a hotkey, on screen keyboard pops up and you can jump to first MAME title beginning with that letter or first song on jukebox etc.

Well if you want TOM to implemtent an onscreen keyboard in gameex then it should go there.

If you are just wanting advice on a onscreen kb that functions in a similar way then it can go here.. We are not againsed off topic posts.

Its a nice auto hot key script.

Run the ahkosk app.

Do this ouside gameex to see how it works... It can dock itself to all active apps as a trslucent toolbar and all you have to do is click to open it.

I took this advice & tried ahkosk. While it docked easily enough, but, as soon as I highlight the transparent red spot on the toolbar (which is flickering constantly), the keyboard appears on top of GameEx, but, flickers to the point of being unusable. It appears fine outside of GameEx. Did you have this issue? Any ideas? Thanks.

Either the keyboard and GameEx are competing for focus or the keyboard doesn't work well with DirectDraw applications for transparency. I haven't looked at the app, but if there is a way to turn off transparency, that would be a good first step.

I thought is was a fight between gameex and that app wanting to be on top... As gameex runs on top and so does the app they are constantly stealing and regaining focus... Hence the flashing.

I really suggested this for in-game type stuff. Although Id love to see a built in KB for gameex.. This way I could have real deal slots on my cab... Without a keyboard I cannot put any money in...
