I was a nintendo kid as well.. 1980 :)

the megacd/sega cd for us US gamers is the cd based addon for the genesis/megadrive Which is 16bit

The 32x is another addon that made the 16bit console 32 bit and had only a hand full of games but was fun.

Here is a pic.

Sega 32x was an add-on to make the system 32 bit but failed horribly.. NDS is fairly decently emulated now..

As for GameCube tho, only a few games run at decent speed, and PS2 runs quite well but requires a GOOD strong machine.. (We're talking OCd C2D QX6800, Nvidia 8800GTX or Ultra as PS2 is very GPU hungry on PC.) but, a good PS2 emu, PCSX2 has come a long way since official release of 0.9.2 incluidng Online Play with official Sony PS2 servers and almost perfect sound. :)

That's pretty damn cool, however it sounds like it's financially limiting at the moment. I mean, if you can just buy a PS2 for under $100 on ebay, I would think it pretty hard to justify the hardware for that emulator alone. OTOH, if you already have that stuff for PC gaming or something, might as well give it a go! Now, wait another 1-2 years and we'll see. Of course, that's how emulation goes, right :D
