OK, I have a rather strange crash occuring. When I load gameex and then click on Emulated Games>SNES (Emulator 2) it attempts to load the ROM list, but crashes if there are more than 25 games in the list. It was previously working, so I don't know why this is all of a sudden occuring. The error log runs fine until the last several lines where the error it encounters is "Argument length must be greater than 0" or something to that effect.

The emulator works fine with any number of ROMs when loaded from other slots, but not the Gameex default SNES slot. All other emulators work fine as well. Any ideas??

Have you tried setting it up in another slot using the same settings just for kicks?

Also do you have any really long file names in there

Like Super metroid (u)(e)(i)(B)(!)(p) etc etc etc... Id try creating a new folder and copying 26 roms in it with small file name and see if thats the issue as well. Though I must admit I never had any issues

Yeah, I'd agree that this is more likely a problem with one of your roms having a strange name, a really long total path, is corrupt, or something similar. There shouldn't be a problem with GameEx limiting the number of roms to 25. I would do what Brian suggested and make a new folder with ~25 in it. Then if it works, add another 25. When it breaks, you will have your problem narrowed down to a list of ~25 roms that at least one of which is a problem. This could be tedious, but at least it's something to try.

Once you figure out which one(s) it's balking at, you can either rename it or remove it. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Yes, I thought that as well, but when I tried to narrow it down I found that it did not matter what roms were in there, only that there was more than 25. I also tried a different folder, that did not work. Using a different "slot" did work, so it something to do with that particular slot. I was just wondering if there was a way to fix it.

I also thought about installing a second instance of GameEx on the hard drive. But I am afraid that it would cause registry issues. I guess I can just ignore it, or do a reinstall of GameEx...is there anyway of doing this without losing all my settings??

Just copy your gameex install dir to the new location.

There is a switch that will let you boot using diffrent configs.

I'm sorry, could you give me more details...Are you referring to a second installation (2 Gameex on one machine) or were you referring to removing gamex and reinstalling it?

I was assuming you were talking about installing a gameex in a second location on the same machine... Why esle would you worry about reg issues..

I am asuming you want to do this because you have seprate configs..

Since it is the same machine all paths will be the same right? gameex uses its default config by default..go figure.. Ive read that you can just tell gameex to use a seprate config by specify the config command. Ive never done this.. but I also believe just copying the wole installation dir would let you do the same things.

Or am I not understanding you correctly.

I have used the alternate config via command line in the past. I don't remember what the switch is, but basically you call GameEx from the command line with the switch and the alternate config name. So, for example:

GameEx.exe -config AltConfig.ini

You will need to check the syntax as I don't have it in front of me. I can try to remember to login to that machine and see exactly what it is if you can't find it. I suspect that it would be possible to try GameExe.exe -help as well.
