help installing

ive installed framework.2.0 etc and now i need to installl directx9,ive tried downloading the thing off the folowing:

the first one is an exe file which i double clicked and it told me then to install to where,i just put program files(do tell me if im wrong), gameex installer still said i needed to install direct x9, so i went onto the second one and downloaded it, then double clicked it,said it would install direct x9, i click continue then a download bar comes up, so i wait then it says could not download file. can anyone help me?

I don't know about the source of your DX9 installer, but you can always get the real version from MS here. It does require you have the stupid windows validation software installed, so perhaps if you have another source, that would be better.

Well most modern videogames and Video driver packages come with the dx9 redistibutable package.

You can try that.

Also the gameex install SHOULD download all required files. Via the smart installshield

That's a good point. I don't remember installing either .NET or DX9 when I installed last on a fresh XP machine.

Simple enough...download an Admin package of it.
