Hi I just wanted to make sure noone was experieince crashes when launching or exiting games in the latest version, or crashes at all for that for that matter.

Your feedback is so important. As GameEx works so differently on different systems. On my system its the best fronted ever written! Although it may not be on yours.

Please do let me know if you have any issues.

Cheers.

One thing I've noticed is that when I boot up my computer and then run GameEx, it will lock up on the opening sequence, when the first graphic shows up. It didn't used to do this on the older version. It appears that if I let my computer sit for a few minutes, it doesn't tend to hang up, but I haven't played around with it enough to know for sure if that is the case.

Could you get it to do this, and post the log please?

Thanks.

Alright, here is the log. It will generally hang and I can't exit the program, though the cursor will move around. I can't exit using Ctrl+Alt+Delete either. I generally have to turn the machine off. Sometimes if I let it sit, the monitor will go black and click like it's trying to change resolutions. Anyway, hope this helps. Thanks for your help.

no problems here so far, will test more later (basically, when someone who actually wants to play games comes along we'll probably find some crashes then :P)

thanks Tom.

After installing this afternoon and navigating to 4 or 5 menus, the entire system completely froze and I was required to reboot. The system has never done this to me before. I let it start up again, but havent been back to check on it yet. I follow up and post the log if I see it again.

Alright. I've been hanging up again when GameEX tries to start, but I went back and turned off the jukebox function and now everything works fine all the time. I don't know if it is because my songs are on a different drive or because my playlists are extremelly large, but that seemed to fix my problem.

No crashes. And that applies to my system as a whole. The media center "back" button support is working FLAWLESSLY!!! I've watched that particular addition get a good workout, we've gone for over a week now without plugging in a keyboard into either media center.

We're very happy campers. :D

never mind i was useing a program called total game control so that i could exit a emulator useing my xbox control and this program was causeing that problem

EMKO,

If you call an emulator or game from within that KeyMonitor program I sent you, L+R+Start on an Xbox controller will exit the game you're playing. Just disable MapKeys and use KeyMonitor before the emulator you want. e.g.

KeyMonitor.exe Project64.exe [ROMPath]\[ROMFile]

with L+R ur talking about the 2 buttons on the back right? i tryed almost every combination and it didnt close the emulator i know ur keymonitor works cuz its still running when i open a game and it closes when i close the emulator and i did turn of map keys

im useing xbcd drivers for the xbox control if it makes a difference

Please disregard my previous post, as I am haning up at the startup screen again. This is with the jukebox disabled and happens even if the computer is warmed up. I have not added any software and am confused by this. I have been able to exit GameEx, though, instead of having to shut down the computer. The log doesn't give me any clues, it's very similar to the one I posted earlier. Here is that last of the log from my current hang up.

Thanks Rob. Do you notice any improevement in Startup time in the latest version?

The Back button functionality was supposed to have been there since the start. I guess it was only working on some MCE remotes, perhaps just European ones or something.

Posted

Sorry I meant "home" - the green button. I use a universal remote and it's labelled "menu" so I get confused as to what to call it. And yes I can see the speed improvement. :)

I have changed from the "video fun" theme and have had no further hang ups when GameEx is starting, with or without the jukebox.

Hi MO,

It can take a while to create ICONS, you may not be waiting long enough. Once there created though there cached.

The other half went to a web site (www.tvrules.net, it's configured as a web application), and it bombed here. This is all there is in the log pertaining to it. I guess GameEx doesn't like reality TV. ;)

Reality TV, GameEx was not designed to brainwash the public, and cause mental numbness. Im not even going to look into this issue :D Tell your misses I'm sorry!

I suspect its because of some kind of DirectX Conflict though maybe, if other web apps are working.
