Does gameex come with the latest history.dat and catver.ini and etc when you get the gameex updates?

If not and I should get them myself, I imagine I put them in the gameex\data\ directory?

GameEx can generate a catver.ini based off your Mame version.

Most if not all *.dat files you must download yourself...and place next to your Mame executable.

I'm not sure if GameEx will then copy those to *\gameex\data\...Brian or someone else is really likely more in the know about this than I am.

I didn't know GameEx could generate the CatVer.ini file. I usually just go and download the most current one anyway, but this might be a lot easier.

Gameex does come with some but I urge to download your own for whatever build you run as it is more accurate.

I did a fresh install of gameex with no downloaded mame support files.

Gameex did have game info screen but it wasnt what I was used to seeing and when I went to choose game by catergory I had alot less to choose from.

So Id say for a novice user the defaults are good.. For a poweruser go ahead and grab the files.. Point gameex to them in the config and update your game list again
