most games work fine in both mame32 and via the gamex interface.

however pacman and donkeykong isnt working. they are old games yea burt

why is mame just going black and back to gameex withe these two old gameS?

(when they work in mame32)

Are you running MAME32 through GameEx or are you using the standard command line MAME? I would suggest running the "Run Last Game" batch file in the GameEx menu under the Start menu. It should give you an error for you to decipher. If it flashes by before you can read it, add 'pause' to the end of the batch file. If you need help with the error, post it here and someone might be able to help.

1 seeing from the basic mame settings it is D:/xxx/xxx/mame32.exe

so im probably running mame 32 via gammex. apparently

2 ok when i run "run last game" it a "dosbox like screen" just flashes by and nothing happends :S

what does this meeN?

PS: These 2 old games work nice in mame32. but only goes black and then back to gameex launching them via gameex. :S

ok

i tested around with the paths from the RUN , (run comandline) and think i maby found the solution (that gives more questions)

i run

D:\mame32\mame32\mame32.exe puckman -rompath D:\mame32\mame32\ROMS -triplebuffer -nowindow -joy -artwork -artwork_directory artwork

(i think this it what gameex want to run) (from the logfile) and nothing happends.!

BUT,,, when i exlude "-artwork -artwork_directory artwork" in the path gamex want to run

i.e (only have) D:\mame32\mame32\ROMS -triplebuffer -nowindow -joy

it works. (from the commandline)

so im guessing these old games dont like the -artwork things, is there someway to get gamex not to include -artwork for certain games like these 2 old ones?

or is there a more simple solution?

further investigation shows.

i run

D:\mame32\mame32\mame32.exe puckman -rompath D:\mame32\mame32\ROMS -triplebuffer -nowindow -joy -artwork -artwork_directory artwork

i think the last "artwork" is missing a "-" in the line so its maby supposed to be

D:\mame32\mame32\mame32.exe puckman -rompath D:\mame32\mame32\ROMS -triplebuffer -nowindow -joy -artwork -artwork_directory -artwork

" - "

that - thing is not iinfront of artwork word the last sentance when gamex

tries tro run it. how come?

how do i fix this?

I don't think the last artwork needs a '-' since that appears to be the directory where the artwork is contained in (just giving the local path rather than the full path D:\mame32\mame32\artwork). What you need to do is go to the start menu and find the 'Run Last Game' item. Right click and say properties. Select 'Find Target'. Now, open that file in a text editor (right click and say edit). What is the command it is running? Try running that in a command prompt (doslike box) and see if that works. If not, it will give you an error that might help. I think you can just add a line and put 'PAUSE' on it in the batch file if that's easier. Report back what you find and we can go from there!

it all functions fine when i dont include -artwork and -artwork_directory in the commandline (or puts a "-" before the last artwork in the line.

"D:\mame32\mame32"

mame32.exe puckman -rompath "D:\mame32\mame32\ROMS" -triplebuffer -nowindow -joy -artwork -artwork_directory artwork

when i input this line no error message is displayed. it just goes back to D:\mame32\mame32 directory without

eaven trying to start the game.

You can try.. Usually when you dont have a path in that filed gameex uses its own bezel..

An Ive seen before that depending on your mame version gameex may or may not choose the correct version bezel.

Sbaby had this problem Id go back a few pages and look for that topic. In the mean time disable the showbezel in gameex advance cong to see if this fixes it.

damn! i read sbabys thing,.

and changed bezel to = 2

all problems solved. BEZEL turned on and working. IS so cool :D (never seen it before)

can you have bezel on all games? eaven regular games???????

thx again. Goodnight :)

Bezels will only display in MAME if you have bezel art for it in the artwork directory. In GameEx, you can also choose to have all verticle games use a standard GameEx black bezel. There is no way to display a bezel if there is none define for it, obviously.
