I'm using 2 logitech ps2 style rumble pads, and no emulators that do not already support gamepad input.

I've got everything running pretty well as far as the controlls are concerned, but there's one little wrinkle I'd like to iron out.

GameEx (and Zinc) insist on using the joy/analog stick for navigation.

My controllers have a nifty little "mode" button wich toggles the D-Pad between Digital and analog, and so far that's how I've been doing things (just pressing the mode button to swap the d-pad over when running gameEx or Zinc).

I've read a bit on the custominput.ini , but can't work out how to find the codes (if there are any for my d-pad). I've checked in the gamepad control panel but they don't list any key codes or button numbers for the d-pad. In Mame (using the control settings) they show up as "J1 Hat Switch U (D,L,R, etc)". but I don't know how that would translate into a code I could pop into the custominput.ini . Also there seems to be fewer option under the "Joystick" section in the .ini than in the "Keyboard" one. Does that mean I have to map the d-pad to keystrokes (using software) or is there a simpler way to do what I'm trying to do?

Thanks in advance,
