register only for a year & configuring advancemame?

i haven't played ANY games on the pc in a long while, but after watching "king of kong" i decided i wanted to play it . anyway, i've recently installed vista, and after having setup gameex, i decided to use my regkey to register gameex (i registered about 15 months ago).

i booted up gameex, only to be presented with the nag screen. so, does the registration last a year, or is it because i have vista installed?

oh, and no, i'm not a cheapskate, i just wanted to know before i had to re-register again

also, as its been so long since i setup gameex, i can't remember how to disable mame32 and have advancemame as the default mame. can anyone help?

You'll need to email Tom about this directly. There was a slight change in the registration system recently that might be affecting your license.

thanks. any idea what i need to do to use advancemame? i have configured basic mame settings to the advancemame pathways. the game lists load, but when i try to load a game, the screen goes blank and returns to the gameex windows.

any suggestions anyone?

Well, first of all, do you have a valid executable for advancedmame? I would also suggest trying to run a game using advancedmame through GameEx and then exiting out. Try launching the RunLastGame link in the GameEx menu. If it doesn't work there, it won't work in GameEx either. We can help debug if you have problems that you can't figure out from there...
