Brian, why in my gameex standard bezel option for all vertical games does not work ?

Game does not run and return to gameex.

I use Mame32 Plus and i have all artwork bezels options disable

In gameex i check "Use bezel for vertical games" but does not work

I'd first download an updated artwork pack.. Id search MAME EXTRAS @ your favorate torrent site.

MAME has recently re did the way it handels artwork.

Id also ask if you are running any special res? Id also try deleting your mame default.cfg Located in the /cfg directory where mame is installed. Id just copy it out somewhere first... If it still doesn't work Id just copy it back.

Do you have arcade Vga card or somthing ? I've seen a few users here have issues... but they were all using wierd video modes..

With Mame32Fx 0.118 gameex error is : unknown options -artwork

Change command to this...

-artpath or -artwork_directory

Specifies a list of paths within which to find artwork files. Multiple

paths can be specified by separating them with semicolons. The default

is 'artwork' (that is, a directory "artwork" in the same directory as

the MAME executable).

I understand... Go into gameex advanced config/advanced mame settings and add that switch.

Now :

The games now run and the vertical bezels work fine but only for the official artworks, i want gameex generic bezel for the games without the official artworks.

How ?

Remove the offical artworks for the game.

I have tried, now i have only generic bezel in artwork directory

If I start amidar and put gameex in background I see that amidar.zip shape in the folder artwork and opening I see the generic bezel into the zip but in the game I do not see it

Ok so are you saying now you WANT to see in game artwork? I'am sorry the language barrier is making it a little diffacult for me to follow... Not your fault you are very good..

I would UNZIP your artwork... Artwork should be *.PNG and have the EXACT name as the ROM being called.

While gameex supports reading files from zips Im not sure if MAME does as well. It might tho...

All I can say is my artwork is unzipped.. So are my snaps.. It makes gameex faster.

If a Bezel cannot be matched with the EXACT rom name the generic gameex one will be used..

Is the video being streached? Meaning you see black boarders on either side of the monitor..

If not try the keep aspet ration switch

I never put the gameex bezel in my artwork directory...

I pretty sure.. the amidar.zip in the amidar folder has to be missing for gameex to use its own..

Meaning that I dont have to put lay files in anywhere for gameex to pick it up.

You can't use the GameEx generic artwork option and use the individual artwork at the same time. Its either one or the other

Sbaby does not want to use both.

He only want to use gamee bezel.

The only way he is able to get gameex bezel is to create a zip with the same name as the rom and put the gamex bezel inside the zip..

I know it sounds weird.. I know mine I dont have any artwork path defined. I have show bezel enabled and it works just fine.

I had sbaby do the same config and it didn't work..

Something is up. I do not believe it to be user error

It was something I noticed in my run last game.bat I didn't see in yours...

Its also not an option in my command line settings... So I thought you might want to try it.

There are no command line arguments the switchsaying which bezel to use its just there... Not sure it will work but there no harm in trying.

This is one of those interesting threads, that you read to see if anything can be done, but you don't really know. IMO, wouldn't an empty artwork folder be good enough? If MAME doesn't have the artwork, thats when the GameEx bezel is supposed to be used. So why shouldn't it work? Have you tried taking out the line in the MAME configuration that assigns the folder(s) to use for artwork?
