Strange problem with left Joystick

I hope someone can help though i don't think GameEx is the problem.

A little kid played on the Mame cabinet for a while. During that play the software ( GameEx ) crashed 2 times. The boy had pussed the button all at one's a couple of times.

It hanged with some sort of script running in the background.

After that everything worked fine except the lower key with the left joystick doesn't work anymore.

So; when i play 1943, i can go up ( forward ) , left, right , but it wont go down ( backwards ). The same with all games.

What works:

- Navigating through GameEx itself works fine.

- Navigating through the test software from X-Arcade works fine.

What i tried:

- Running the games just in Mame32; same problem -> no backwards ( num2 )

- in Mame32 the settings changed Hanaho joystick and also normal by input options. Didn't worked.

What can i do ?

Launch MAME press TAB goto input configutration controls and make sure p2 left is defined.

If you cannot figure it out. you can always delete your mame default.cfg

Can you verify the joystick itself is functioning correctly? If it's a keyboard emulator, open notepad and hit down to verify it is sending a keystroke. If it's a joystick hack or gamepad emulator, open the game controllers from the conrol panel and hit properties. Push down and verify the controls work. After that is verified, move on to software like HK suggested...

I think he said that it did work outside of mame in the xarcade test app.

Yeah, I didn't see the part where he said it worked in GameEx but not in MAME. In that case, I would agree that it has to be the MAME input file!
