Attempted to malloc zero bytes (src/emu/inptport.c:1704)

I'm getting this error in all Mame32 games, after Initializing, it kicks me out. Things were working fine with Mame32 .117 and GameEx 8.59, but this morning I upgraded Mame32 to .117u1 and GameEx to 8.61 and now I'm getting this message. The games run fine in Mame32 standalone - the games I've tested this with so far are The King of Dragons (World) and KOF 98/2k2.

Keep up the great work Tom, and if you want any extra information about my setup just ask.

Yup, your a bit ahead of things running 117u1. It has the new keyboard input system and it probably means you can't use the built in skip disclaimer option in GameEx. Try turning it off for now or go back to 117 until Tom figures it out.

Just a quick note.... there is a bug in .117u1 causing ctrlr files to crash if they don't use a "remap" entry somewhere... you'll get a "malloc zero bytes" error.

Why do they keep screwing around with multiple keyboards? I don't see an advantage for anyone...

Sure there is..you can have the same key on a diffrent inputdevice perform a diffrent function...

Thing is it seems to cause more problems than it solves right now.

I understand what the feature does. I just don't understand how it will help anyone. How many people currently have or have any intent to acquire 2+ keyboards to run on a single system? Eh, I guess if they figure they've worked everything else out they can work on details. I just thought there might be a few more bang for the buck type things that would have been ahead of this on the list.
