A couple of updates ago a bug was introduced that GameEx interface looks a little stretched out of screen and much brighter when I am back from MAME (not always, but most of the time). This only happened after a bug was fixed when I'd come back from CPS3 games (on mame) and gameex used to crash with a directx error (that was reported to Tom using that Log screen).

After I exit GameEx, it goes back to the right resoltuoin.

I'm using Vista Ultimate, my video card is a GeForce 5200 and I'm using a LG 1080i LCD tv as output. The resolution I'm using is 1360x768 32bits.

If I could only check what resolution gameex comes back to...

Btw, thanks for this great software and all the updates!

Could you post your log after this happens please.

Also, this is most likely a Vista issue, I get all kinds of video issues. Are you using the latest nvidia drivers?

Something that might help, is telling GameEx not to set the resolution under display settings in advanced configuration.

I am not using the latest drivers, I'll update now. But it was working before a couple of GameEx updates with these drivers.

Here is a log for opening 19xx, waiting a few seconds, and pressing back on my remote to come back to GameEx. It has worked, but the resolution was wrong.

When I was trying to reproduce that I found another bug which I had forgot. If I get into a game with my xbox 360 wireless controller turned OFF and quit MAME using the remote's back button, GameEx won't recognize I've quit MAME.

I use my Hauppauge PVR-150 remote's back button to quit mame and go back to GameEx. I'm not sure if it has been that way before or if this was introduced in the latest mame/gameex update.

I've included both logs here, but I'm not sure they have any useful information...

Thanks Tom! Are both bugs fixed?

That's one of the reasons I registered this software: great support! :D

I'm going to check the updates when I get home (but get bomberman downloading on live arcade first, but that's a different forum ;) )

Is there anything I could do to help?

I dont know about the CPS3 issue though. Your log shows gameex exiting cleanly. Can you give a bit more detail around exactly whats happening with that.

That's because I had to force-quit it.

When I exit MAME, it goes back to the Desktop - the task bar is hidden except for the windows logo. GameEx is still running, but won't show up, as if it didn't recognize MAME had already ended. I've tried waiting for a few minutes, but nothing happens, so I hit ctrl+alt+del and choose END TASK on GameEx (which has "Playing:Street Fighter 3...." still in it's title bar). If I try to ALT+TAB to GameEx from the Desktop, it only shows a black screen.

This used to happen only when the controller was not connected, now it happens everytime I try SFIII.

If its only affecting certain MAME games, ie just CPS3 games its nothing to do with GameEx, and not a lot I can do about it. it must be some kind of MAME issue.

Is it only CPS3 or certain games?

I'll try every game again when I get home but, so far, the only one that had this problem is SFIII, but I haven't tested any other CPS3 game.

Btw, when I try it calling mame by the command line, everything goes fine. The issue seems to be GameEx recognizing that MAME has ended.
