Set the frame skip in mame to 2/12 and you can have V-sink on and tripple buffer as well its not silky smooth but you will not get any sreen tearing or sound Judder test on shonobi and see for your self IT COST ME A NEW PC TO FIND THIS OUT STOOOPID MEEEE :blink::P

GameEx always appreciates some nice power behind the hood, so it probably wernt wasted :)

Just a bit of info, I personally find that if you have tripple buffer turned on you dont need VSync on aswell. In MAME and some other games/multimedia apps, you generally have one or the other.

Vsync has never helped any issues I've had. Tripplebuffer has - BUT it depends on the game. Some games, particularly scrolling where tearing occurs, benefit from it. Others, say something simple like Pac-man, actually stutter with it, regardless of PC horsepower. And to corroborate what Tom said, upgrading hardware isn't a waste. You might be able to get by with older stuff - say a PIII...or even II - but why suffer?
