I've just upgraded my mame from 116 to 117. I ran clrmamepro (downloaded the latest version) but something is wrong.

When I try to run 19xx, for example, from GameEx, the screen goes black and comes back to gameex. The game works fine if I run mame by command line. This does not happen with ssf2t, for example, which runs fine on gameex and mame.

Any ideas? Everything was working fine on 116...

Thanks!

Try update list in GameEx?

I did. And I also applied all GameEx updates that were pushed.

If I could check what mame returned on the console when it was called, I could provide some more info (or solve it myself). Is there a way to do that? Btw, I'm running Vista Ultimate.

Maybe someone has 0.116 somewhere that could send me? They don't keep older builds on mame's official site. I upgraded it to check all that cps3 emulation-thing but it's not worth to lose other games for that.

I found out what was wrong. GameEx is calling MAME with a "-artwork" parameter that mame doesn't recognize. I've checked gameex log files and found out it was calling it this way:

mame.exe 19xx -rompath C:\Emulators\ROMs\MAME -tripplebuffer -nowindow -joy -skip_gameinfo -artwork -artwork_directory artwork

I've tried generating avi snaps before that, so maybe there is something wrong with them...

Thanks! That's what i've been looking for.

Anyways, "-artwork" is not in the advanced options line. The only thing there is "-tripplebuffer -nowindow -joy -skip_gameinfo".

Could it be that this has changed in this version of mame? Is there any way I could tell GameEx I don't want to use "artwork"?

Tom?

In the mame settings where it asks for the artwork and snap locations just clear what you dont want out.
