Wondering if someone can help me figure out how GameEx looks for Snap and Title files.

I use only US ROMS but have the full directory of US/Japan Snaps and Titles (taken from the NoIntro snapshot site).

I have noticed that I see Japan Snaps and Titles in GameEx for US games.

Example:

In my NES ROM directory:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II - The Arcade Game (U)_nes.7z

In my Title directory:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II - The Arcade Game (Japan).png

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II - The Arcade Game (USA).png

GameEx loads the Japan title. If I remove the Japan file, the USA file loads.

I'm assuming GameEx must match on the name up until the parens () and uses the first file it finds. I suppose I could remove the Japan Snaps/Titles but wondering if there is an easier way.

Thanks for the help!

I believe its alphabetical...

you can alway use the DOS del command. del C:\snaps\nes\*(JAPAN).png

This sould only remove the japan saps which as you stated you don have any need for as you only have USA rom set.

of course id make a backup first.

Another alternative if you don't want to delete them permanently is to use the Windows Search feature. If you put (Japan).png in there and point to the correct root directory, it will list all the files in a single window. Then, you can just grab them all or the ones you want and move them to a backup location.
