Hi Everyone,

I have some questions concerning the finetuning of gameresolutions in gameex. Allthough I am very pleased with

my new setup and several games allready look stunning (Neo-Geo games)

Problem

I recently installed a new Multisync Hantarex Polostar (25") monitor. The following setup is used;

Hardware

Upright cabinet UMK3

P4 3.2Ghz

1 Ghz Memory

AVGA 2th edition

J-pac

Polostar Multisync (15Khz 25Khz 31Khz 35khz)

Software

Windows Xp

Gameex

Mame32

question

How can I have a fullsize picture without manually adjust the H and V positions?

I read a topic on Retroblast how to setup the hardware for Multisync monitors http://www.retroblast.com/articles/monitor.html

and followed up all tips and tools for the best results. Still have some very small pictures with the older vertical games and MK

series?

Does anyone have experiences with this kind off setup? And/or does anyone have some info or hints in the right direction?

Your help will be very much apreciated ;)

That's the problem with this kind of monitor, I have the same one myself :( You can buy a cable from hantrex that will let you move the adjustment board to somewhere more easily accessed, this monitor doesn't have any way of remembering the settings at different resolutions.

I've had best results by using the avres utility from the ultimarc site, and I adjusted the monitor so that it fitted the screen at 640 by 480

It means tho that alot of games have a black border around them or are a tiny bit off center but I think the worst is about a 1.5cm black border and with my black bezel and black cab you never really notice it while playing

I had to change some of the default settings in Avres... my router is screwed at home but once I get it sorted I'll upload the setting I'm using

Hi Stu,

thanks for your reply to this topic! Bugger this is not what I hoped to hear :(

thanks upfront for the upload when your able!

Still I don't get it?? The strange fact is that in Mame32 the pictures are somethimes different from the ones in GameEx?

How would you explain that?

I managed to get a not very stable temporary internet connection up and going while I wait on my new router, woohoo :) I've attached Avres with my default settings, just change the mame paths and run it, I've also attached my mame.ini extract it to the ini folder after you've ran Avres, I know I've done some messing about in there trying to get the best out of my monitor but I'm not sure what...

I'm not sure about MAME32 I just use plain old standard MAME... maybe you should give it a try too and see how you get on
