I want to capture video of PC games like need for speed or lego star wars that I run in my cab so that I can make previews that will show up in GameEx. Any suggestions of how to go about this or what software I should use?.

Robert:

Did some googling and I think I found something that may help. However, there may be a problem as well...

AutoScreenRecorder is a freeware program that can make AVIs out of your applications. There's supposedly a way to disable the mouse from being recorded as well. This should most likely be fine for creating your AVI previews.

Now the problem I mentioned earlier:

Unless you set up your PC games as an emulator, there's no way to add AVI Preview support. If you do have your PC games set up as an emulator, make sure you name the AVI preview the same as you named the shortcut.

Hope that helps ya...

Thanks, I'll try out the program. And yes, I do have my PC set up as an emulator, using the PC Game database from ShAddiX to get game descriptions. It looks awesome with AVI previews!

I looked at the program you suggested and it has the same problem that other programs I've tried out have: in order to capture VIDEO (as opposed to just what's going on in your browser, for example) you have to turn off hardware acceleration. The problem is that a lot of games need hardware acceleration to in order to run (like need for speed). So I'm not sure what to do. Of course, sites like IGN and GameSpot always have video of games, so I know it's possible, but I just don't understand how they do it. Any ideas?

What about Fraps I haven't tried it myself but I rember my magazines talking about, it's geared towards gamers so it might be ok with acceleration
