I searched through the forums and read that this has to do with the data.mdb missing, but I've looked after every reinstall and seen it in my DATA folder. How do I fix this?

Just curious if you set up your directories in the configuration wizard? The error has something to do with database operations which are used to build and access the list of roms, snaps, etc.

yea...i even run "verify setup" or whatever after I'm done too, but i still get the same error

edit: I hope i don't come off as an ass....not my intention....i just really want to try this out...the excitement is killing me! :-D

I've seen this error before and I dont know if there is an obvious solution to this yet. I think downloading GameEx again and re-installing might be worth a try. If you have a search on this forum for oledb error you might find some other posts related to this and a possible solution. Let us know how you go.

well I've uninstalled and reinstalled a few times and it didn't fix the problem

i did the search you mentioned and all of them point to the DATA.mdb missing...really nothing else on the matter

*cry*

Im not too sure what this is yet, although I have something for you to try. Are you using an NLited XP install or anything like that?

Anyway try installing this, microsoft data acess components (MDAC).

Thanks Tom, but that didn't solve the problem either. Meh, any other suggestions?

Oh and yea I am using a sort of bare bones XP.

My only other suggestion is ditch the bare bones XP, its obviously missing some files for standard database access.

If you knew exactly what files were needed, you could probably install them manually, but it's really a lot easier to install full windows and turn off the things that you don't need. If your system is more modern, some things don't make that much difference other than during login...
