hello guys,

i got a bit of a problem, i want to add a collection of dragon ball videos but they are in rmvb format and when i add the folder and go there in gameex, it says that there were no videos found, any way i can solve this, is there a config where i can add formats that have to be recognised?

I don't think so. In the past these questions have been answered by the suggestion to transcode to another supported codec. Perhaps Tom will have a different resolution this time...

If the files can be played in WMP (even though GameEx uses DirectX and not WMP) then it should be no problem adding the file extension to the supported ones, but I think this is generally not the case here.

the video is playing in mediaplayer with a codec thou

In which case it shouldnt be a problem, I can add the extension to GameEx. I assume this is some kind of realmedia format .rmvb? I have not heard of it before, could you give me a little info on it save me googling?

I do realise these days a lot more codec packs have support for real media, so maybe it is a good time to add support for it. Although its something I would certainly never and I guess others wouldnt use. Could you explain why you need this format? Is there something I am missing?

Well to be honest, i never heard of it asswell, but last week i downloaded the entire dragon ball z series and they are all in this format, as you say it is a realmedia format and i could convert them to avi or some sort but there are like 278 episodes and that would be a biiiiiiiiig job for me, so i thought id ask here first :D

Rmvb files are generally used because the file size vs quality ratio is pretty good.

An 150mb avi episode can be shrunk to a 50mb rmvb file & still look good.

I encode all my dvd's to 700mb rmvb files, i think the quality is better than avi.

is it possible to add the extension to the supported config myself?

No, but Im going to add support to the next version of GameEx which wont be long, so no worries.

Every time I hear about a new release "coming soon", I get all tingly thinking about what might be released next! The only bad thing is when it's primarily fixes for Vista since I run XP.
