OK I've got several questions to get gameex where id like it, and if anyone could shed any light on them id be much appreciative.

ill try and organize my post in case it gets long so if you know the answer to one question you don't have to read through a bunch of gibber jabber.

1. my basic setup and goals.

2. when i purchase a license can i use gameex on multiple computers?

3. i cant seem to get gameex to receive custom commands from girder.

4. with 7-zip support will gameex work with ISOs, multiple files bin and cue?

5. there is a random blank button that does nothing on my flat menu.

6. questions about secondary screen.

7. has anyone found a nice setup for the logitech cordless rumble pad 2 to mock an N64 controller?

8. does gameex send an alt-f4 command to close emulators?

9. has anyone found a snes or genesis emulator that works full screen on a secondary monitor.

10. my gameex log.

11. Thank you, thank you, thank you

-> 1) ok basically i launch gameex from a media front end called meedio, which i control with a remote wonder two. it launches on my secondary monitor which is a 27 inch TV and works beautifully. from there it launches gameex as an external application. gameex then launches on the secondary and also functions beautifully. except for the above mentioned problems, i even managed to match the two themes so it looks like im still in the original front end. now what id like to do is have the remote control seamlessly switch to controlling gameex, which i understand is possible with a program like girder, if i can get that to work i should be able to navigate menus and control and exit my emulators as well. which would be crazy neat because i could mute them if i wanted to listen to music or save my games all from one remote.

-> 2) I regret not having already purchased a license but as a collage student 25 bucks is mucho denaro, anyway heres my question. at the moment I'm just trying to configure my whole system to work correctly so when i move in September i can set it all up on a new computer with my roommates much better hardware and high def tv mmmmmmm. so I'm wondering when i purchase a license can i move it to another computer and also possibly have it on a few others so i can have it in my room and bathroom as well, ok well maybe not the bathroom, but we all have dreams.

-> 3) ok heres the one thats really driving my nuts. girder is a program that will recive comands from pritty much anything, in this case a remote wonder 2 and someday one of those fancy logitech remotes and a usb-vert, and then sends custom commands out like key strokes. try as i might i haven't been able to get gameex to receive any commands from girder I've tried setting gameex as the target window, having the commands sent to the foreground process, disabling and enabling a bunch of options in gameex input settings including keyboard direct input, and i just have had no luck. girder is successfully finding gameex when it is the target window gameex just isint accepting the commands, and im at a complete loss for why it could be. if anyone has had any luck with this please help.

-> 4) assuming that 7-zip support means that gamex will extract the file and then execute it, will it work with multiple files like with an iso. im trying to reduce the consumption of my playstation isos that i run through epsxe but im wondering if gameex will be able to distinguish which file to open, has anyone had any lock with this.

-> 5) this ant the end of the world but its kinda bugging me, on my flat menu i have 4 emulators and an exit gammex button, everything else is disabled. however right above the last button which is exit theres a blank button that when selected does absolutely nothing and i would like it to be gone :).

-> 6) ok i run gameex on a secondary screen which is a tv and theres a few weird things going on and im just wondering if its normal if i try to click anything on my primary gameex minimizes also if i move my mouse on my primary in the positions where the buttons would be if i ran gameex there it changes the buttons on my secondary. i would love to be able to run gameex on my secondary and still use my primary at the same time for whatever like i do with meedio, but im guessing were just not there yet, am i right?

-> 7) pretty self explanatory just thought i d toss it in there, i just cant seem to find a setup for my cordless rumble pad two that simulates the n64 controller correctly just curious if anyone had a nice setup for this.

-> 8) just for when im setting up my remote im wondering if alt-f4 is how gameex exits emulators.

-> 9) i got fusion to work pretty nice by just sizing the window correctly but theres still a menu bar at the top and for the life of me i cant find a snes emulator that will work correctly on a secondary monitor.

-> 10) heres my log in case anyone wants to take a lock, i know it ain't pretty but its doing the trick for the moment.

-> 3) ahhh ha ha i totally got girder to work, it turns out for some reason you cant have custom keyboard commands enabled in the gameex config, but this is not a problem for me

WOW!!!

Welcome to the community. I'll try and help.

#1. I'am not familiar with girder. I do have gameex runnig on an arcade using a tv. just not media center themed. Sounds cool tho

#2 The licence is a reg key. It is possable to use this reg on multiple machines. Use good judgment.

#3. More girder stuff. Umm gameex loses focus when you launce an emu but always runs as a process listening. Can you program a button to ALT TAB? This will change the focus back to gameex.

#4. So you want to compress your ISO's to 7zip. Gameex can read what inside the 7zip but will have to extract it to run. On the fly of course but wil 650 meg ISOs its a diffrent story NESroms are easier. Not to mention how cpu intensive this migh be. I did see a 500gb drive at frys.com for 120bucks.

#5. Use theme editor and remove it. or go program files/gameex/themes/ choose your theme look at the buttons you will have two of each one will be a different

color. This makes it apper highlighed when selected just make a copy of the one wilth the unselected color and copy then remane it to the one with the selected color... Make since?? Im not sure if I like how I worded this but sounded good in my head.

#6. You will have a few issues with this. MAME just now supports launchng on secondary screens. most emus have issues.

#7. I dont see an issue if the emulator supports DIRECT X FORCE FEEDBACK. EPSXE (PS EMU) does and my controller rumbles are you USING PJ64?

#8. I belive It kills the task. example taskkill or PSKILL.

#9. Cant you have your emus and gameex on primary and medio on secondary? If not have you tried Zsnes?

#10. Looks good! :P

Wow that was a through and speedy response, the second i saw it i bought my license, if people are that helpful this is definitely a community i want to belong to :). thanks so much

1) ok first off i got girder working and if anyone else is trying to use it or wants to know anything about it please let me know and ill do my best to help out, its a wonderful program that gives you a lot of options, it can control emulators to so you can save games or whatever.

2) secondly thats great about the reg key and when i move in with my friends next year and there using gameex in our living room ill see if i can get em to throw so more donations these developers definitely deserve it, unfortunately that 25 bucks tapped me out for now, thats a week of drinking :(

4) ya i was worried about the decompression time, i here theres a nice little plug in for epsxe that splits them into different compressed files to cut down on extraction time, ill check back here if i have any luck getting it to work, its called mooby something.

5) the buttons not a specific button its one of those standard ones that displays emulator names or jukebox or whatever so i don't think i can delete it or black it out without getting rid of other menu items.

9) i cant really run anything on my primary as i run cables from my comp to another room where my tv is but ill just wait till they update zsnes or i get another computer to be a dedicated media system.

and thank you so so much for all your help
