Anyone running Windows 98 or Windows ME can you answer either or both these questions please?

1. Does the Videos module work for you in GameEx?

2. Does the DVD Player work?

Thanks,

Tom

I'm actually getting an install error on 98, something about not being able to register dvdcore.dll.  (v4.72)

Have you got the latest version of Windows Media Player. It needs that to register dvdcore.dll

Works great now, thanks.  Was this dependency listed on the download page and I missed it?

I'll be trying out the Videos module later, to answer your original question.

No, its not on the dependancies page, I do mean to add it though.

Is GameEx generally working OK for you on Win98?

Spoke too soon.

Trying to run Snes9x, ShowDesktop=False and MapKeys=False.  The emulator starts and loads the ROM successfully.  After about 10 seconds, GameEx steals focus back, and both processes hang.

Sorry got not getting back to you sooner:

This is a Windows 98 specific thing where the launcher exits before the game is finished. There is a way round it.

On your CMD for Snes9x prefix with:

START /WAIT

e.g START /WAIT snes9x.exe [ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]

Give it a go. You should be able to get it going.

Thanks, that seems to have solved the focus stealing problem.  I'm still having the problem that the emulator is running so slowly as to be unusable; I suspect this is because I'm running on so little RAM.  GameEx has to hang on to a bunch of RAM even when it's minimized, right?

Also, when I quit from the emulator (with ShowDesktop=True), GameEx never successfully comes back up.  The screen blacks out for a second, then it goes back to desktop.  When I click on GameEx's taskbar button, the same thing happens.

Yes the slowdown would be the ram, as is the delay between menus, and probably GameEx not coming back up, although the last is more of an issue I need to address.
