I`m having a few issues with GameEx but most are being resolved by trial and error and searching the forums. I do have a few questions and I hope someone here will answer them for me. I`ll try to make them succinct.

1. Apart from the default themes I downloaded the Soul Calibur theme. However I can only use the Soul Calibur or the MCE theme for some reason no matter what settings I set and if I try to use the theme manager from within GameEx the other themes appear but always resets to the MCE theme.

Any ideas on why would be really appreciated!

2. I have Mame shown on the main screen and was wondering if there is any way to show all the emulators as well as Mame on the main screen?

Ideally I would like to have seleced emulators on the main page and then when I click on them they show the game roms available.

3. Dumb question but I really like the Soul Calibur theme but I can`t really use it because I have no idea how to go back to the previous screen.

I have an arcade cabinet with the joysticks and buttons mapped to keyboard keys. I cannot change the keys as they run through a hard coded keyboard encoder (set to MAME default keys).

Is there a way I can tell GameEx to use say the 5 key to go back to the previous menu?

GameEx is definitely a great front end, I had avoided using this as I cannot run it on my XP 64 system which I use to test cabinet software before I install it on the cabinet itself (which runs XP Pro) but kept seeing good reviews and the screenshots looked nice so tried it and it`s looking good so far :)

For #1

Iam not sure what you are doing make sure you are copying them to the right location and as always make sure you have the latest drivers and FDDSHOW.

For #2 : Set use flat menus in the advance config.. not sure exaclty where it is.

for #3 Yes you can change the default select and back keys.

Also try telling gammex you use an Xarcade. Since It uses a keyborad encoder with mame default keys.

Good luck

Well I donated, well worth the money!

The only thing that bugs me is for some reason the themes I downloaded work, but not the ones included with GameEx apart from MCE (I mistakenly wrote Media Centre before) which is a bit annoying as the GameEx animated one looks like it could be really nice but it`s no big problem.

One more question though - where do I access the mouse emulation? I have a game my missus likes (Monopoly) and it needs a mouse to play. The page at http://tomspeirs.com/gameex/tips.htm mentions registered users being able to use mouse emulation and that would be very handy!

Thanks for the help, its definitely helped and also thanks to Tom for the great software. I`m getting my cab wireless this week and will be using it for internet news and tv and of course radio :)
