NEStopia will not run, just black screen

I am trying GameEx and like it but have a problem with NEStopia emulator. The settings for emulator path and so on are correct, I can see the games but when I select to play one I get taken to a black screen displaying jut the time and date and then nothing works and I have to physically switch off my pc to do anything.

Does anyone have any ideas why?

I am running it in an arcade cab with XP pro SP2, 1 GB DDR RAM, AMD Athlon 64 2800+ CPU, NVIDIA AGP GF 6200 with joysticks and buttons connected via a keyboard encoder interface if this helps with any ideas.

Hi. Have you tried enabling 'Show Desktop' for Nestopia under 'Emulator Setup' ? That may fix it.

I had the same problem, you have to change the video settings from inside nestopia. Open it up from outside of GameEx and go into the options to change it so that it starts up in full screen, and then change the resolutions under video settings till you have a resolution you like on your TV/monitor

I have already enabled desktop and I set it to full screen before I ran it as I read on the forum that Nestopia has some problems otherwise.

I also have another problem, even though my roms are where I have told GameEx it says there are no roms for any emulators but I will keep tweaking settings and try my best.

I currently use the paid for version of Maximus Arcade but am considering swapping to GameEx because there are a few issues between Maximus and my favourite software which don`t exist with GameEx.

Plus GameEx has more features of course, but both are great so far though I`m leaning more to GameEx if I can resolve my emulator problems.

Ok I had the same problem 2 so here is how i solved it open up nestopia.cfg and look for this line

-preferences start in fullscreen : yes

for some reason i had to go in and manually change it from no to yes and its been workin fine ever since.
