im still trying to find the solution to this problem with all my emulators i,e snes nes megadrive n64 ect,

i have a lot of doubles in all emu's the thing with doubles is that they are either japanese or hacked roms,

and they play almost exatly like the originals or uk roms,

if i were to do it manually it would take years,

good tools gets rid of a lot of them ,but i dont think there is a good set of amiga,

i would be interested to know how well amiga works in gameex,as thats 1 emu i am missing

The best way to cut down the amount of useless dupes is to get the NoIntro rom set, you can get the dat files from they're site http://www.gbadat.altervista.org/ check your current GoodTools set using the NoIntro dat and ClrMamePro and you'll be left usually with just 3 versions of each game... USA, PAL and JAP

I then divided the roms into 3 folders for each region then wrote a FileRenamer program that removes any bracketed text from file names then I merged the 3 folders back together. I put the JAP roms in the final folder 1st then added the USA roms telling it to replace all and then add the PAL roms telling it to replace all too... that way I should have 1 of every game and if it existed in all the regions I'll only have the PAL version

I posted the tool on this forum a while ago it was called FileRenamer

Hi Stu,

Do you still have the filerenamer tool? I tried searching for it, but cannot find it anywhere.

Also how did you split up your roms into pal/jap/usa? I tried ClrMamePro, but I still have like 5-6 versions of one game.

I would like to only have one of each game instead of heaps.

I am working with the full set which has stacks of dups

No problem you can get it here

You might want to take a read at that whole thread I've a couple of tools there that should help getting your sets nice and clean

Cheers for that Stu,

I now have a nice clean set stripped back to the minimum, thanks for the link :)
