Sorry about posting about this again, but this is getting very frustrating.

I can't seem to get the newest version of the Model 2 emulator (v0.4) working with GameEX. Only the games from v0.1 are showing on the GameEX "model 2" game list, and many of them when selected do not work at all, (after a black screen and delay they return to GameEX). When I run GameEX in a window I can see that the not working games are not being selected properly (the games that require you to scroll down to select when running the emulator normally), and an error message in the cmd box of model2 says "unable to locate driver for". I have tried updating the rom list, but none of the games added in .3 and .4 show up. I have also tried the loader posted by headkaze, which also does not work for me. I am using the most recent release of GameEX (8.09), and all the roms load fine and work perfectly outside of GameEX. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Hi,

This is my first Post, But I have the exact same problem as jombee above, I also tried to run the emulator in debug mode from advanced config as a separate emu to see what was going on, but no luck! any help on getting the latest version of model 2 working (v0.4) would be great. even if it was to be set up as a separate emu - I can't seem to get that working either! has anyone got a working config file for model 2 v0.4 to me setup as a separate emulator with game-ex v8.09?

Also on a side note for tom, I am using mce2005, but for the last few versions of gameEx ( since about v7.51) I am getting some corruption in my themes for the icons for list scroll up-down arrows/ the close game ex icon, the home icon, and all of the top bar (navigation/volume bar) it is worst in valhalla which is my favourite theme, I am running at 1920x1080 resolution, I know this is higher than the themes resolution of 1024x768 and obviously there is some gfx card stretching going on, but all worked fine in v7.5 and before. When I go back to the previous backed up working version of gameEx everything is fine again! Tom any ideas? or anyone else have this issue?

Thanks,

Zybex

Im not sure why the existing games are not working, but I can tell you the newer model 2 games have not been added to GameEx yet, so they won't be listed.

Thanks for your reply Tom.

The "older" games that are not working are ones that you would now need to scroll down to select when you select the game (games near the bottom of the list). You can clearly see what happens with the Model 2 emulator when you run GameEX in a minimized window. When the emu selects a game everything works great when you can "see" the game in the rom selection window. The problem and model 2 error message "unable to locate driver for -" happens when it tries to select a game that you would normally have to scroll down first to select. Hope this helps!

Hi Tom,

Attached are 2 screenshots taken this evening one from a backup of version 7.54 and the other from the current version 8.09, if you look at the top bar, home and exit icons and list scroll arrows and compare them at 100% zoom you will see the graphic corruption. Also I don't know if it is related but the start sound of the theme (valhalla) no longer works either also the loading screen does not display - just a black screen before theme is loaded. I have also attached my latest log file if you want to look at it. On another note is it possible to setup a working model 2 v0.4 as a separate emu? any ideas you might have would be greatly appreciated! thanks again Tom.

Not much I can do about the loading screen, but does ths start sound work with 7.54? I'll let someone else help you with Model 2 if that's ok.

EDIT: Actually I found a bug with the loading screen. Thanks for letting me know about that.

No Tom it doesn't, it hasn't worked for a long time (early version 7's)but other sounds work fine, this isn't a major problem for me though, the graphical glitches are much more annoying. any help there and I'd be a happy man. No problem about the model 2 problem hopefully someone else will read this thread and help me out a little bit.

thanks again for your time and patience.

Can you try the attached GameEx.exe. This "should" fix the theme and loading screen.

Back when GameEX did not support the Model 2 emulator I wrote (as did others) a bunch of AutoIt v3 scripts that ran it as a separate emulator. The scripts needed exact cursor plotting points, so it really isn't much use for anyone else unless they have the same resolution that I used to plot the points. It was kinda clunky, and didn't always work perfectly, so hopefully someone else can come up with a better solution for running model 2 ver 0.4.

My wrapper is supposed to be better in that it reads each game from the listview and then gets the actual location of it for the mouse click rather than sorting the list and guessing where it is. It's a much lower level way of doing things and should work on any system. It's the one that is now included with GameEx, but there are still reports of it not working for some people.

Ben, I think the issue is that in the new model 2 version, the list now scrolls, so your wrapper is not working at the moment.

I wish emu coders would just add command line parameters, it would save alot of work! I guess maximizing the window would help, or perhaps manually scrolling the list down. To be honest I thought my wrapper would work even if the list needed scrolling down. I'll have to take a look some time.

The list now scrolls because of the increased number of supported games in version 0.4. Even though GameEX only supports v 0.1 games, some of those 0.1 games are on the bottom of the list. Those are the games (besides the GameEX unsupported v0.3 & v0.4 games) that do not work with GameEX (the 2 Zero Gunners, Behind Enemy Lines, House of the Dead, Sega Touring Car Champ and Top Skater)

Hi Tom,

Just got your post. I will try this file this evening when I finish work and let you know how I get on. Thanks a million again.

Jombee and headkaze, thanks for your input, hopefully the problems with model 2 can be sorted out, ideally with a future version of the model2 emu which will accept command lines. In the meantime jombee could you please post your scripts with a brief explanation how to set them up if you have the time? it would give me something to play with (maybe I could adjust them for my resolution - after studying autoit a bit?). if it is totally unfeasable don't worry about it.

Regards,

Zybex.

Okay I've done an update to the model2 wrapper (using the maximize method), but I need people to test this. If you can test this and report back any non-working ROMs, or any other issues please. Hopefully we can iron these out before the next release of GameEx.

Instructions

1. Copy the m2loader.exe to your GameEx folder (GameEx will automatically copy this loader to your model2 folder before launching)

2. Run a model2 game from GameEx.

3. Report back here any working/non-working ROMs or issues

Hi all,

This is my first post. I'd like to say what a great job you're all doing here. I was having the same problem

with the model 2 emu and half the games not loading. I kept getting the driver error message. Headkaze,

I just downloaded your model2 loader. I've only tried it with Sega Touring Car at the moment (as it didnt work before).

It works a treat. Thanks so much. Really great job!

Thanks for this headkaze, will try straight away when I finish work this evening, and let you know how it pans out.

Also Tom, I was able to get home for lunch and try out your replacement gameEX.exe file - it worked!, loading screen working fine and graphical glitches in icons and top bar gone! I Can't thank you enough !

I was just thinking about the theme startup sound problem - I am connected using spdif out to a home cinema amp, would this cause the sound not to be heard/decoded? not a real problem for me though, so don't put any effort in, just an idea.

Damn, I'm at work now, then going away fishing for a few days.

I will test it out late Sunday and let you know. Thanks a lot Headkaze!

Zybex, using the autoit scripts are complete crap when compared to Headkaze's wrapper. The ONLY benefit would be allowing games to be run that are the newer games (Daytona, Desert Tank, etc), which GameEX does not support yet. The best way to run Model 2 by far would be to use Headkaze's wrapper and hopefully Tom can add GameEX support for the newer games soon. If this cannot be done, I guess I could write individual scripts to run those games as a separtate emulator, but I'd rather wait and see if things can be sorted out using the best method.

Headkaze, Tried your new wrapper, works great, Thanks a lot, really this is the best and most helpful forum I have ever visited. A great bunch of people!

Great job HeadKaze! All the games supported by GameEX (version 0.1 model 2 games) work perfectly now!

Thanks!
