New database driven favorites and statistics. This will improve stability, reliability, validation and integrity of your game data

The data will be automatically be upgraded, but you will loose any stored video aspects

This is going to be much better going forward

There's new viewable statistics in GameEx for registered users and these are also available from GameExtender

Much faster and enhanced 7-ZIP support, GameEx will only extract the entire archive when launching, in the menu the files in the archive are just listed

Now I'm wishing I hadn't spent the last few weeks unzipping all my 7zips and re-organizing all my rom sets so that I only have 1 of each game

I'm not sure if there are any advantages in using it with mame as mame allows you to regain space using options like split, merged and non-merged to store your roms... the big advantage is with other systems like SNES and what not where there are like 10 or more different versions of the same game in Cowerings rom sets even though they are all 99% the same... with 7zip those 10 games will take up on slightly more than just 1 version as it ignore the duplicate data found in the different version of the game so the complete GoodN64 set is almost 26 gigs in standard zip but with 7zip this becomes just over 5gigs you can see more stats for the other sets on the GoodMerge page

The other option, which I went for, is to use rom sets from the NoIntro team, (their site seems to be down at the moment), they have went through the rom sets and picked out the best version of each game so generally you only end up with 3 versions per rom eg. USA, JAP and PAL... much neater than Cowering's Good sets... I then simplified these even more by removing the bracketed text from the name and merging all the roms together then I ditched the JAP version if a PAL or USA existed then ditched the PAL version if a USA existed so that I should now have the 1 version of each game, couldn't get mush neater than that and it's about the same size as the 7zip set without the extra time need to decompress 10 roms just to play 1

but like I said I don't know how this would affect Mame if it even would but I thought I'd give you the low down incase you didn't now anything about 7zip and goodmerge
