Disabled items still appear on main menu

I've manually altered the gameex.ini and disabled items such as video, dvd, news, weather. Weather stopped appearing on the main menu list but the other items mentioned above still do. As a last attempt I ran the config wizard and it clearly sees my changes set from true to False but the items remain available "and working". Is there a cache file I need to delete or something else I need to change?

I'm not sure if this will make any difference but what about enabling them again in the ini run gameex amd exit then disable them in the config utility rather than maually editing the ini incase the config utility knows to update some other file along with the ini

You shouldn't have to do any manual editing anyway. Everything is editable from the Advanced Config and the Setup Wizard. Tom doesn't support manual edits so you'll have to try Stu's method. Chances are it'll probably work out.
