Problems Setting Up

Hey, guys.....

First, great program, Tom.....much abliged.

Secondly, having some issues that are making me pull my hair out.

1. Have Daphne checked as enabled, but it does not show up in the menu. If I set it to flat menus, it shows as Laser Games, but not if the menu is in normal mode.

2. When entering MAME games, it looks for ROMS in the specified ROM directory, but only lists about 10 of the 300 something ROMS that I have....what's up with that?

Well, fixed the Daphne issue....told the control panel to show MAME under emulators and now the list shows emulators with MAME and Laser in the list.....

But.....still can't get GameEx to scan the ROM drive and show me all of the ROMS that I actually have.

It scans, but only comes up with about 10 of the 300 ROMS I have.

Any suggestions?

Make sure your not filtering roms in Advanced Mame Setup.

It was filtering "Japan, Germany, bootleg, etc...."so I turned that off. Went into GameEx and told it to recreate the list and it took three hours and picked up one rom...

Now I have 11 of 300 listed! WooHoo!!! Progress!

Look at all the filters. Set only working games to no, allow imperfect games to yes. Set use game filter to no. Also look at the adult game filter and Mahjong filter. On the next page set no clones to I want clones. Odds are you playing with clone roms and they are filtered out.

...if that is the case, I assume you have the parent ROM sets instead of just clones... 300 sounds awfully low to me when there's 6000 or 7000... Also, it occured to me that maybe you have an old ROM set and an updated version of MAME that either made changes to or rebuilt entirely...

Also, could some of them require CHDs? Do you have Verify ROMs turned on in GameEx Advanced MAME Settings? Are you absolutely SURE you're not trying to run clones? Have you verified with clrMAMEpro? What version of MAME are you using?

I doubt this is a GameEx related issue.
