MAME32: automatic save state (saving & loading)

I've got MAME32 setup to save a state on exit, and then automatically load it again when the game is next run.

Unfortunately: when I run MAME32 through GameEx; this functionality is lost. Do I need to pass any command line instructions via the GameEx setup wizard?

Thanks for any help.

Are you saying that in GameEx the game starts but savestate doesn't work at all?? I am running the latest ver's of both software packages and for what ever reason my original save states just stopped working one day. No rhyme no reason as to why. All the savestate files are there but Mame32 will create new save states every time I upgrade and all old save states are no longer recognized. Not to blame GameEx of course. Anyone else???

I think the changes have something to do with Savestates themselves. The MAME team doesn't encourage use of savestates unless they are used for testing, and functionality is often changed from version to version, and drivers are often updated. In other words, this feature comes and goes.

There is a command line argument to launch savestates, and that's what makes the function operate in MAME32. so you'll need to add it into the Advanced MAME Configuration section of GameEx. From the MAME readme:

-[no]autosave

When enabled, automatically creates a save state file when exiting MAME

and automatically attempts to reload it when later starting MAME with

the same game. This only works for games that have explicitly enabled

save state support in their driver. The default is OFF (-noautosave).

Hope that helps! :)

Thanks Adultery, not exactly the answer I wanted but it offers closure LOL! Thanks again.
