1) Occasioally after I exit a game (MAME) GameEx will crash with the following error.

2) GameEx displays the wrong snapshot for some games.

I'd assumed this was a problem with the screenshots themselves but when I go into some games with incorrect screenshots to see their details the correct screenshot is shown. When I go back to the main MAME list, the shot is now correct.

I had a similar problem to this when "Snap Best Match" was turned on

Excellent.

Does anyone have any ideas why GameEx crashes occasionally after returning from MAME? (As per my main question above).

Try the following and see if it helps:

1.) Disable Anti virus software

2.) Disable the function to hide desktop in GameEx config

3.) If not using MCE make sure MCE option is disabled in GameEx config

4.) Try a different GameEx theme

5.) Update your video drivers and or system bios

and as a last option

6.) Fdisk, format and reload

It sounds like you might be using an old version and this bug might now be fixed, as Im pretty sure I fixed the snap shot issue a while back.

Can you post your full log?

I'm using 8.07.

GameEx was easily worth the purchase and I was actually quite surprised by how few bugs there are.

Although...

1) The snap issue is definitely still there, with the "Snap Best Match" the screen shot for "Galaga 3" is the screenshot of "Galaga" while when I turn it off it's the correct screenshot. It's not a feature I want on anyway, but you may want to fix it. :)

2) GameEx still crashes on return from MAME very occasionally. Next time it happens I'll post the full log.

Thanks again for a great product. :)

Found the cause of the crash! Now I just need you to fix it. ;)

- I have Escape tied to both "Quit" in games and "Cancel/Back" in GameEx.

So when a player wants to quit a game and go back to the main GameEx menu they hammer the arcade button on the side assigned to "Escape" to quit the game and "Escape" up back through each GameEx menu (log attached)...

... It seems that if you're in a game and HAMMER Escape as fast as you can, the game quits but then as GameEx attempts to reload, GameEx crashes.

I'm pretty sure you'll see the same issue, load a game, when it loads hammer whatever key you have assigned to 'quit' very fast. GameEx will most likely crash before it reappears.

Reconfirmed on a separate install on a separate machine, this is definitely the problem.

I was not in the room when the error happened, but from all reports, my sister in laws hammered the quit button and things crashed. When I got in the room, there was a black screen (HideOS) with GameEx in the background. I was unable to alt-tab back into it and eventually killed it with ctl-alt-del. Unfortunately, I did not think to grab the log, but I'm pretty sure I suffered this error with v8.07 (I think).

Can you try 'hammering' the quit button to see if you can get GameEx to crash again? I'd like to confirm it's happening for someone else as well as me. :)

This is still a problem, have you had a chance to look at this? :)
