Hello fellow GameEX Users! This is my first post here. AWESOME program. I registered it within a few hours of messing with the demo. Can't wait to get my cabinet up and running with GameEX.

Onto my problem:

I installed "Karaoke for DirectX" and I am able to run cdg files in Windows Media Player. However when I try to launch a playlist from GameEX karaoke fails to run (or, on rare occasions, flickers on for a second then disappears). This results in GameEX coming back on screen back where I started.

Anyone have a similar issue or any idea how to fix this? This is a brand new rig with an ArcadeVGA PCI-E card. I assume it's some sort of codec issue. I do have Xvid installed for my game AVI previews.

Thanks!

Hi, I think this is a bug in GameEx. Ill get a fixed version out shortly.

Tom,

Thanks for getting back to me. I have downloaded the latest version but I am still having the same problem. I realize you probably have a large to-do list for development, so I am just curious if this fix was already applied or if you are holding off for a later update.

Thanks,

Chris

Can you post your log please. I did fix an issue with Karoake which meant it did not work at all, so this might be something else.

Here is the log (Below). Once I click a song the screen turns black, then I see a titlebar flash for a second (sometimes it flashes twice). It looks like a screen trying to resize. Then it goes black again and GameEX comes back up like nothing happened. ONE time out of many tries I saw the lyrics come on screen for a split second. Also, the CDG videos run fine in windows media player. Thanks!

I tried the default theme but I still had no luck.

I ran karaoke many times in a row to try to read the title bar of the screen that flashed before game EX comes back up. It says:

"Game EX | Karaoke | [filename of song] | [##]/60"

The digits before "/60" change each time I run it. Don't know if that extra info is useful.

I experience this same problem, i bought gameex quite a while ago, however i only use gamex for the karaoke function, as there is no other decent alternative for Media Center.

i did have MCE 2005 and i experienced this problem when i tried to upgrade to later versions, only the version that i downloaded when i first purchased it worked, and all subsequent versions produced this error.

I have sinced upgraded to Vista, and i am using the latest build of gameex. and this problem is also not working, so now the only feature i purchased gameex for cannot be used.

worth noting, when i first installed gameex and tried to play a CDG file i got a message saying that the file type is not recognised and it asked me if i want to try to play the file anyway, i said yes and the sond played ok, however upon subsequent retries the songs will not play resulting in the same error above.

Can you please assist me with this? the log file does not show any errors as far as the logfile displays, it says it has started the file for playback and ended without error.

also just another question would it be possible to add a startup setting to load the Karaoke player directly without going to the mame frontend.

Hi, I have been looking at this but its a bit difficult because I cant duplicate it. What would help though is if you could both post gameex.ini in the config folder zipping it first. If I can get it to do it for me it should be no problem getting it fixed.

Thanks.

Tom Thanks For he Offer Of Help, but i tried a few different configurations f gameex and had the same problems, and since you cold not replicate it i figured that it must be something specific to my Setup, it turns out this was due to ffdshow so i put an exception in the audio and video decoder configuration to not use ffdshow in gameex.exe and this works.

now i am trying to suss out why in vista the microphone does not playback realtime but it does record ok. ahh well :(
