Money Making Opportunity to help Configure my Controls - Please

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I cannot figure out how to configure my Player two controls for Zinc games (Using GameEx) and I am willing to pay someone to help me get them set up. I have read a lot of posts about using various Zinc front ends to configures the controls by game and then using that configuration to manage the GameEx.

I am just not Technical to do that without someone spending some time with me walking me through it step by step. I am hoping that someone on here would be willing to help me for a fair amount of compensation.

I am operating an Arcade machine with an Arcade Monitor, two player set up (joystick and six buttons each) using the Ultimarc VGA card and the J-Pac control interface.

I have been able to reprogram the J-Pac and the control configuration file with MAME 32 to match the default controls that I found for player 1 through Zinc and GameEx, however, I cannot get player two controls to work.

Again, if someone would be so kind as to help me get this working, I would be happy to compensate them fairly.

Thank you,

Thomas BeCude

Have you tried using Nologic's wrapper? There's a post on the forum about it here. It basically launches a custom control config for each game without having to set each one up independantly.

Read more about that here. It's pretty easy to get going, but we're here to help if you need it. :)

Hey Adultery,

Thanks for responding. I did follow the link and I don't see anything there about "wrapper"?

See, I told you I was not that technical.

Are you interested in helping me one on one, please.

Thanks,

Thomas

Changing Render's

This can be set in the Settings.ini in the "*\Zinc\Config\" folder, under the GFX

entry for the game.

Options are:

ZiNc_D3D.cfg

ZiNc_GL.cfg (Not GameEx friendly)

ZiNc_GL2.cfg (Not GameEx friendly)

ZiNc_Glide.cfg (Voodoo cards only)

ZiNc_Soft.cfg

It's a lot easier than you're making it on yourself. Just take a deep breath and give it a try.

Use the Advanced MAME settings if you want this to work with your MAME games, or use the Standalone if you want to set it up like a seperate emulator.

Hey Adultery,

I am giving it a try.....

I am not sure if I am supposed to take any action with the item below? I am trying to just do the steps for the Advanced Mame Setup so far? Is that correct?

Thanks,

Thomas

Hey again Adultery,

I went through each of the steps in the Advanced MAME setttings portion of the instructions and now when I go to load a Playstation (Zinc) game within GameEx the screen goes black and then returns to the menu?

Help.... (At least before, I could play the games with one player?)

Thanks for all of your help. I am sure it is something simple, but I have no idea.

Using Nologic's wrapper will probably let you setup controls closer to how the real games were played, but if you just wanted to get your P2 controls working in Zinc, then you should be able to use the Setup Wizard to download it with everything you need for basic controller config. It has a FE in there (called ZincFE.exe) which you launch, then select Options->Controller Setup. I believe I may have the defaults setup already using default Mame buttons.

Thanks for the response HeadKaze.

I am trying to get it all working withing GameEx. I like the concept of having one Menu drive my MAME completely.

It is very weird whats happening now. I have been fooling around with it for a couple of hours. It seems like the ZN1 and ZN2 controls are properly configured. I can play Streetfighter on my MAME within GameEx and both the player one and player two controls are working perfectly.

When I try to play Souls Edge (Version 2), I can only seem to get the player one controls to work, Same with Xevious. I tried to copy the controller data from within the "Streetfighter.cfg" file within the Zinc Controller folder over to the Souls Edge, but that did not solve the player 2? Is there a place that holds some controller info for the Game grouping? Like S11 games?

Thanks,

Thomas

If you run ZincFE then select Options->Setup there is a setting there called "Use Settings per Game". This will allow you to go through each game and configure it manually. I must admit, it's pretty damn confusing though!

Actually, I have tried to Map out the correct Keys using ZincFE, but it does not seem to be working for me.

I am able to go to the Options - Controls and re-map the keys. I then tell it to save (or whatever) it says. I then Load GameEx and it is like I did nothing?

Do you have a set up with a computer set up as a MAME machine in an arcade cabinet with Joystick and button support for two players?

Thanks,

Thomas

Ok, so any ideas on this? I can get all the games that have controller files in the folders configured. But Bloody Roar doesn't show up with a file in any of the folders. Is there a way to add it so It can be configured? It is detected in Game EX, but wont run.
