'Gidday' folks!...

I must say I am now a proud registered user of GameEx :-)

Compared to all other mame FE's on the market, this one is simplest in it's most usable form you can get, I'm lovin it.

2 issues I've had a search around, but havn't found a complete answer to:

1. when you cycle through mame game list and select a game, it shows: play game, view control panel

q. Is there a way to display the control panel on this page without selecting 'view CP' then go backm then play game, ie 1 button select game, then is shows the game snap & CP on same screen?, then all you need to do is hit 'play game'.

2. I have tried opening the default 'controlpanel' layout using Layout editor, but it appears there is no CP layout to edit, ie I can't select anything in GameEx/ themes/controlpanel. As I have a custom layout/or will have (similar to the mamewah CPV2 layout with 7 buttons, 2 players).

Got roms/mame/FE/buttons/joysticks/keywiz/trackball/wood - just need to build the CP & test it, then build an upright around it :-)

Keep up the great work!...

[edit] autosave works, just not for 1943 rom.

In regards to question 2) There is a control panel editor that HeadKaze built into the Theme Editor a while back (which is what you are playing with). But, Tom hasn't had a chance to enable custom control panels yet.

I would imagine that after that were enabled, you might be able to make it part of your theme (although you might have to make a custom one to do it), which would take care of question 1 as well.

Personally, I like the idea of having the CP viewer as a part of the game's screen. I would love to see a picture of a generic cabinet with the game's marquee, a screenshot, and below it a custom CP viewer with the key mappings shown. I don't think I could make it look right on my monitor though...
