Hello

I am trying to get gameex to display an intro video.

After reading many posts on the subject, I found and installed ffdshow. I have no other codec installed (divx for example) other than those that come with the Windows XP installation.

When I put my startup video in the designated folder and start Gameex, the screen turn black and it hang there. I have to go in the task manager to kill Gameex. Without the the video in the folder, gameex works fine. also the video play nice in media player.

The ffdshow version I have is rev. 938 dated feb 18, 2007. The recents post about ffdshow I have found in the forum here had broken links to an older ffdshow version.

any hints on how I need to fix that?

thanks in advance.

What type of video is it? File extension?

it's an AVI and the content has been encoded with xvid (mpeg4)

I'm not too sure. It should play. Can you try setting GameEx config to point directly to the file instead of directory.

Get ffdshow from here. Newer versions of ffdshow don't work in GameEx.

I just tried and this link is broken/does not work anymore. Can someone who has a working version PM see and sent the package by email?

thanks all

Does anybody know why? :)

It's tough running two year old software (especially when I have codec issues in other programs, but must use this old one for GameEx)

I personally don't know why. Is it particular versions or just all versions? I'm running March 2006 version on my HTPC and that works fine. So its deffinitly not 2 years old!
