GameEx & Fusion Problems when using 2 joysticks

Hi all...

First, GameEx is simply amazing...

That being said, 99% of it is working flawlessly. However, I am having issues with the 2 Nyko Airflo controllers that are currently hooked up and in use (My order from Happ arrives today, and it's still a while before my cabinet gets completed).

Here's what's happening.

- GameEx recognizes both Airflo controllers, but only controller #2 can navigate through the GameEx menus and select/go back with it's buttons. Controller #1 ends up being a pretty nice looking paperweight, and as far as I'm concerned, far too much power is being given to player#2... I want to choose which game they're going to lose at ;)

- And while both of them work great in FCEU, zsnes, MAME, etc when using GameEx and 2 players with their mapped keys, Fusion is giving me grief. As a standalone emu, I can use both joys to play the fabled NHL '95 for Genesis. But when Fusion is launched through GameEx, I get absolutley no response on player #2's joystick. Ughhh...

Things to consider... The Airflo is mappable through its own software, but the only button that is mapped is joy#1's R3 button to 'Escape' so I can close the games (ya know, Playstation 2 / Xbox style 'R3')... I've left everything else alone so as not create other conflicts within each indivdual emulator... I've checked the order that the gamepads are identified in my usb settings, and it verifies that Joy1 is '0', and Joy2 is '1'...

Oh and I would gladly tell you all what version of GameEx I'm working with but the version # wasn't listed on the install file (it says v.1.0.0.0 when I check the properties). I do know I downloaded it on 2/6/07 from the homepage, so it's at *best* 1 or 2 updates ago.

Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated, and if you need more info from me (.ini settings or whatever), I'll be happy to share.

Thanks,

bigtall

It wont fix the pads with emulators, but there was actually a fix a couple of versions ago, that should allow you to select -use all devices- in the setup wizard.

Don't know if thats going to help or not?

Thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply Tom...

I have the -use all devices- option selected and in the GameExConfig tool it lists both controllers as:

-Airflo

-Airflo

so I know they're both there, coupled with the fact that I can still use both controllers thorugh the other emus when launched from GameEx...

I do have a different branded joysick (a freebie xgear) that I'll set up again with 1 of the airflos... I'm pretty sure they worked together, but the xgear is treated as joy #1 and I'm not such a big fan of using that particular controller.

If all else fails, it may seem that my timetable for constructing the cabinet has moved up to the top of my to-do list...

Out of curiosity, are there any others out there who experience a similar issue with two of the same controllers?

Thanks again,

The only problem I have had with older versions of windows (98/2000) is the handling of unique USB IDs for each device. Depending on the vendor, windows would sometimes get confused and lose the IDs of the devices. This would result in the devices being auto detected everytime and/or IDs getting overlapped. It has much improved in Windows XP SP2, especially if the vendor has kept their drivers/software up-to-date. If the device is very old and no real support for XP, then it's up to the OS to keep the devices working properly. Under your "Game Controllers" control panel, the the joysticks appear exactly with the same name? or do they have a #1 or a #2 after them?

Bigtall-

I use KEGA Fusion as well. I currently use 2 SmartJoy USB adapters with my PS2 DualShock 2 controllers attached and they work fine together (I just played mike Ditka Power Football a few minutes ago).

Incidentally, my 3rd controller is a NYKO Air Flo PC (my 3rd one actually, I returned the first two because I threw them and broke the fans... My bad! Heh!) and none of these have conflicts with eack other. I never tried using two Air-Flo controllers, but neither of my PS2 controllers have this problem (in or outside of GameEx).

You could try and disable the GameEx key mapping and load a game, hit [ESC] to bring up the GUI and look at the control configurations from within and see if that looks any different to you... I will also note that I don't use the NYKO driver that came with the controller since the controller doesn't support force feedback anyway... The Windows default driver works just peachy for me.

Let me know if I can be of any more service to you. :)
