I spent an hour or so last night trying to get DVDs on disk to work again after uprading to 7.58 from 7.09. The new setup wizard shows path not found to my dvds but gameex itself seems to see the folders they are in, it just won't play them. I have them setup in folders as seen below.

C:\Dvd Images

---------

Star Wars a New Hope

---------

Video_TS

Audio_TS

Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem as well.

Hi Jay,

Not sure if your saying your settingit up for the first time or whether it was working in 7.09. Can you confirm?

Thanks.

Hi Tom. Yes I had it set up and it was working in 7.09 I have about ten movies ripped to the C drive in a folder dubbed DVD images. When the setup wizard's verify setup came back and said no files found in c:\dvd images I tried to change the path to c:\dvd images\star wars a new hope to see if it would find the file that way. The verify setup in the setup wizard did not give me the file not found error but when I went into GameEx it said no files found. Basically I'm having the same problem that was posted by someone else about playing a dvd on disk and GameEx going to a black screen for about ten seconds. I then hear the GameEx chime sound and GameEx comes back on. I am using a codec from intervideo dvd software (not at home so I cant tell you the version) dated 2005. I know it worked before, otherwise I would have stopped ripping dvds after the first one didn't work. Like I said, I'm not at home tonight so I can't troubleshoot further but if you have any ideas I'll try it out tomorrow evening.

Thanks in advance

Can you tell me what video cards your using, but first turn on the VMR 9 setting. I know on my HTPC PC it wont run without it turned on.

I'm Using NVIDIA codec and NVideo 7900 card with fairly recent drivers.

In addition, please tell me what versions of .net framework are installed on your system. Its at the top of the log. Particularly interested if you DONT have .net 1.1 installed and only 2.0 then maybe I need to fix something here.

Thanks.

I'm using .net 1.1, .net 1.1 hotfix and .net 2.0. Vrm 9 is on (but does the same thing when off). I tried changing paths around but also does not seem to help, however I did get my copy of the Matrix to run for a split second before the screen went black and GameEx came back on. Again I don't know if its related but the setup wizard can not seem to see the path to my dvds when I try verify setup but Gameex sees the movies it just is having trouble playing them. My wife is giving me the evil eye for being on the computer too much or I would troubleshoot some more tonight. When I get a chance I will look into this more and maybe try a new dvd codec.

(edit) I fixed it just now by using a different theme. I was using Blue Glass theme and changed to one of the standard gameex themes and all is good now.

What theme are you using? I'm also having this issue. If I set the directory for the movies to lets say c:\movies. They show fine in GameEx but setup wizard reports DVD directory as having no files. If I set them to c:\Movies\TopGun\VIDEO_TS. Verify Setup reports no errors but no movies show in the GameEx list..

I think you can ignore that error in the setup wizard. HK needs to fix that.

Anyway, I just released a new version, that I think will fix the problem.

Thanks.

The Setup Wizard doesn't do a recursive search (it doesn't search for files in folders). I can probably fix that in the next release.

I can only verify that I could not watch dvds on disk when the blue glass theme was active. When I switched over to the deep purple theme I could watch them. I didn't try any other themes. I also had the error from verify setup about no files found.

I got mine working. I turned off FFDshow.

It might be my version of ffdshow because I know they were both working together at one point, and I have upgraded ffdshow recently.
