I have had a search and noticed quite a few people switching ArcadeVGA setting to off even though they have one.

What I would like to know is though, I have run a mamewah resolution util and generated INI files for my games, if I test them from Mame directly I get no problems (apart from some odd stretches with strange resolutions) and I can play vertical shooters no issues of rolling screens.

However, if I enable the Use ArcadeVGA option in Game Ex config, I end up with it trying to display resolutions which appear to be out of spec for the monitor.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Hi. I too have an ArcadeVGA and use Gavin Bensons AVRes to generate the MAME resolutions. I have the ArcadeVGA settings in GameEX turned off also. Not sure

whats wrong and in any event it's no big deal - just leave the setting off. I think i have GameEX set to use the resolution at which the windows desktop is set to (640x480) as well.

Cheers,

iano.

Ah, it appears we where both wrong. I found my issue was I need to tweak about with the H hold, V hold and stuff to stop certain games rolling about on the display. After using the resolution tool I found that a lot of games started to look kinda stretched and wierd where they didnt before.

I removed all the INI files from the Mame folder (generated by the res tools) and set ArcadeVGA Yes in the GameEx config.

The games that dont roll around the screen now look excellent and I am assuming are running at the correct resolutions now, whereas before they where stretched and squished about

Just need to keep tweaking the monitor dials until I get something that works on everything....easier said than done when you cant see the screen when your head is in the back of the cab trying to turn dials without touching a live capacitor! LOL

I use the mirror from my bedroom and place it in front, then at lest you can see what you are doing ! It took a whille to find the sweet spot that works for every game and windows but it works great now :P
