some older games, not compatible with XP, require that you press the .exe button and set properties to win95 compatibility with only 256 colours.

is it possible to run these via gameex? i tryed but got blackscreen. i guess gameex lying behind with hi colour settings and visual thingies disturbs the computer changing into win95 compatibility and wont run the game (this is my thesis) i dont know for sure.

anyone got any suggestions?

ps. you only have to activate run in win95 compatibility on the ".exe file" and with 640x480 resolution.

the resolution shouldnt be the problem. it seems to be the win95 compatibility setting for the game that makes me

return into gamex without the game starting.?

ps: it requires win 98 compatibility. wich i have selected and it works fine outside gameex.

(but gamex has win98 compatibility right)?

Yes 98se.

somehow after manually going in to the "startthis.bat" in gameex catalouge, and correcting the batchfile manually, the game starts with 98 compatibility. (strange that it wasnt configured correctly through the configuration paneL)

its all good now though :)

thx. bye

Hey slipstream can you give detail on what you changed to get the batch file working for 98?

i just so mad when i just get swapped back to gameex when i could enter it outside. so i had a look at the batch file and saw that the

gameex configuration hadnt changed the command line in the batch file from "s rally" to "srally" . (i was just a matter of deleating emtpy spaces in the word in the batchfile)

ive noticed that gameex regarding pc games dont like exe files with alot of spaces in. xxx xxx xxx.exe (often gets put back into gameex) but sometimes starts anyway.

while xxxxxxxxx.exe works.

so what i really did was to remove spaces in the exe file, and command line in gameex, and then made sure the changes was made to the batchfile also.

i know i shouldent have to do this by my self but it may be that im running a old version of gamex (from september).
