I'm not sure what caused this, but yesterday I was updating my MAME list and it glitched out. Then, when I turned GameEx back on, most of my options in the MAME list disappeared completely, including the Update MAME List option. Any idea what caused this? I haven't been home yet so I have not updated to the version released yesterday (or today for some of you).

The only way I was able to update the list was by using GameEx's command line argument which would have been a nightmare for a less command-line savy user.

As for the LOG file, it just stopped after the update MAME list comand was sent, and the screen started flickering before going completely black. The dialog box on the bottom never appeared... The one that says what GameEx is doing I mean.

I don't know what caused this. It would have been interesting to know if a reboot fixed it. The only time I've noticed issues (that have not been fixed) is when a file is locked or open when trying to update the list.

Tom-

Newest version, had the same problem again. A reboot did not correct this. I get all my lists up to Golden Age lists and the rest disappear. I don't get it - other than I added some CHDs to my HD which was the reason for updating the list in the first place. I can exit GameEx normally when it glitches like that with the exit button.

Can you detail what happened prior to that such as shutdown, restart etc. Does this happen directly after a list update or when returning to GameEx?

Are you saying its just an issue with the custom MAME lists, or more than that? You dont have MAME32 and the lists open at the same time or anything silly like that?

I don't know if it's related, but when I updated to the version including MAME32 catver files (7.52 I think) and updated my list, it really changed how the list looked (as I expected). But, when I changed my CustomFolders directory to fix my lists, GameEx wouldn't update. I can select 'Update List', but it starts and finishes within 30 seconds. Are there any files I should delete in the CONFIG directory to get it to force a list update? I don't think running the command line update will make any difference since it is trying to update as is.

It happens immediately after I try to update. It goes right to the MAME game list and flickers, but the progress bar pops up. GameEx doesn't do anything under MAME. The games are there in the previous list, but when I select a game it won't launch MAME. The only button that works is the exit button, and from looking at the log it's as if I never hit the Update List button at all. The first list is custom, yes. But my Model 2 and ZiNc icons are at the end with Update List and all these (including my personal folders) disappear. I use vanilla MAME and I don't have anything else running (except my CPU speed monitor).

I had this same problem around version 7.50. I deleted my gamelist.ini and gamelist.txt and then I was able to update my mame list.

Anti-virus software can often cause file locking problems. I use a handy program called Unlocker which I use all the time.

I will test this as soon as I return home. Expect a full report this evening. :)

Nice app headkaze. Can't tell you how many times I've needed to use something like this (not with gameex though). Thanks for the tip.

This happened to me today. Only thing different I did was change mame32 versions. It glitched out. went to a black screen. It wouldn't update. I removed a batch file that started up when mame would start and the list updated itself fine.

OK, I think I found the problem. Will be fixed in next release.
