Hello!

I recently downloaded GoodGen 3.0 from PleasureDome. How do I take this directory and make a GoodMerge from it? I downloaded the GoodMerge tools and I think I'm missing a "have.txt" file. I ran the GoodWindows front end for GoodTools and after scanning the rom directory it seems to know my "have" list, but I can't figure out if it generated a file somewhere or how to export it. Is there a place that simply has these have.txt files?

Or am I misunderstanding the process in getting a GoodMerge version of the romset?

Edit: Oops...just realized I called the post "GameMerge" instead of "GoodMerge"

Thanks for the help!

Hi Matthew!

First things first - Unzip your ROM set. I know that GoodTools works on your zipped roms too, but it doesn't change the name of the actual file. When GoodMerging it's best to know all the core files are named appropriately.

Also, GoodWindows is crap. You should use GoodGUI instead. :)

Download the latest GoodXXX from here. It's not in English but ya know... *shrug*

Open GoodGUI and click SETTINGS > Configuration

Scroll down to GoodGen and point the appropriate boxes at your ROMs and your GoodGen file.

Save & exit configuration.

In the pull-down menu on the top right of the main window, select your Genesis configuration you just created. Put a punch in the Rename option. Click SCAN. Wait forever. :)

Then, open GoodMerge and select GoodGen on the list over on the left side.

On the Files tab, point it at the appropriate directory for your ROM set (genrenamed is the folder's name unless you changed it). Also, in the folder where your ROM set was when you initially scanned it, you should see your GENHave.txt file.

Start merging and go away for a really long time. I think it took about 5 hours to merge my Genesis set with a 2.5ghz computer and 1 gig of RAM.

Need anything else, just ask. :)

Thanks! Worked like a charm. Appreciate the help. My Genesis Roms directory is much smaller and tidier now.
