I'm currently running registered v7.09 on Windows XP Pro SP2, with .net framework 2.0

I remembered a few versions back, whenever i add/remove roms from the folders, the game list will be automatically updated.

However, with this version, (and probably some of the earlier ones as well), i cannot see the newly added roms, but i still see the roms that are deleted still showing.

The workaround that i found is to use the configuration wiziard, copy the emulator config to the RAM, and then copy it back to the left hand side, remove the original emulator setting, and then i can get an updated list.

I know that for MAME, i can manually choose the "update list" option. What can i use to force an update for the emulators section? Anyone figure out what's wrong?

Its working fine for me fine. Not sure whats going on. GameEx checks when the rom folder was last modified, and if its changed it should rescan.

i figured out that the \data\emu_xx.* files are created when i create a new emulator, so after backing the whole folder up, i deleted all the emu*.* files, and restarted GameEx.

The lists got refreshed in this manner. Other than this, i'm still not seeing the updated lists. 8(

I can just do a script to remove the emu*.* before gameex is launched i guess.

Yes, that is correct, GameEx uses the map files for caching, but it should automatically update them if the rom folder is changed, unless you specifically specify a map file in the emulator config.. Can you confirm the folder is not corrupted. Is it on your local machine or network? Can you confirm the modified date (in explorer) of the folder changes when you add or delete or file in there?

Thanks.

Tom.

the games/roms are on a local hard disk. I can confirm that the timestamps of the folder changes when i add/remove roms.

i must have done something strange that only i'm encountering it. strange!

Hello all. My first post. I just registered because I think this is such a great front end for my cab.

I have somewhat the same situation with game ex not recognizing all my roms. If I use mame32 gui (not in game ex) I can see all my roms. However in GameEX I can't see but maybe 20 percent of my roms. I've read the faq's and doc's, updated game list, taken out all filters, show all roms regardless if imperfect or clones, etc... I'm tearing my hair out here. I love game ex thats why i registered and I hate having to use the mame32 gui to play a lot of stuff. Anyone help? I've searched these forums and can't find my answer. I thought maybe it was because of the versions of mame I've used but that hasn't seemed to work either.

Well, I answered my own question!!! Seems I was using version 108 up to current is why I wasn't seeing the roms. Seems game ex has an issue with newer versions of mame because they can be seen in mame32 gui. Hope this helps. Thanks so much for a wonderful software program.
