I've finally updated my old Soul Calibur theme, but I can't take credit for alot of the logo's and stuff which are from various themes. For example I now use Adultery's M logo series because they look great. The coolest feature of this theme is the new background video that plays when your viewing the Mame list. It's a 2 minute Soul Calibur video with overlayed graphics. It demonstrates what can be done in GameEx themes with video alone.

I've sent this theme off to Tom, so it should be up on the theme site soon when Night gets it.

Very cool HeadKaze! I love this theme! The movies are always a welcome touch. :)

If I knew how to author movies I'd add them to themes too. ;)

It's very easy with Premiere Pro. If anyone is interested I can give a quick tutorial on it.

Tutorials are always a good idea in my book. I'd like to create a movie in my Pure theme for each emulator, so I'm interested in this. :)

I really like the Soul Calibur Theme. I was running the other one on my cab for a long time and I'm downloading the new one right now. Anyway, I have a question that is off topic. What do you need to play Soul Calibur. I've tried it in MAME and it is unplayable. It looks like I might be able to use zinc, but I've never tried it.

Thanks,

Dan

I use Chankast to play it on my cab.

I was fiddling about with animated backgrounds and an overlayed meny like that, but I got slowdowns so I trashed the idea. Perhaps you shouldn't use 1024x768 resolution for your background movies. ;)

It would be even better if GameEx would support "layers", so you could create a graphical menu that sits on top of the background. This would open up a ton of possibilites for GameEx skinning. V3 skins, anyone? ;)

My background looked like this: http://www.emphatic.mine.nu/bak.avi (download .avi 526 kb)

My video background is rendered at 320x240. I wouldn't go any higher because you will get major slow downs in GameEx. Considering the amount of work going on it's understandable.
