Hi Folks. I'm using the MCE 2005 Remote with WIN XP Pro. It seems to work fine with GameEX - only a few nags. The 'OK' button doesn't seem to do anything - i would of thought this would be used to select options. But the 'DVD Menu' button seems to do the equivalent of this button so it's no big deal (although to other users the 'OK' button would seem like the obvious choice). The main nag is that when i'm in jukebox and i select 'Artist/Album' on the left to change the way my music is displayed (i prefer to have it album/artist) and press 'DVD Menu' on the remote it does not change the way my music is displayed (unlike select button on cp). Has anyone any ideas on this ? If not is there a way to configure the jukebox so that it starts with album/artist view as default ? As always your help is appreciated.

Thanks,

iano.

Hi,

The MCE Remote is not properly supported on standard XP, theres no drivers, so I dont really know if I can help with this. I personally would not want to use the remote on XP. Your'll probably also find you cant page up and down the lists with the channel buttons.

On MCE it all works fine.

Your probably better getting some other kind of remote control or windows MCE.

Sorry.

Hey Tom, I read that XP Pro SP1+ should have the MCE remote drivers. You may need to install them manually, to do that read this

headkaze is right i have win xp sp2 and the remote works fine, windowz knows what it is and it works in gameex i use it for the main controller on my cab

just pnp the remote i dont have the same problem iano has though

I think the drivers are in sp2 the remote dosnt work at all in xp sp1

Hi. Thanks folks for your help. I'm kinda thinking the reason why a few of the buttons on the MCE Remote don't work as intended in GameEX is because of the way i have GameEX setup. Maybe Keyboard/Input Settings or something along those lines because when i press the 'OK' button on the remote outside GameEX windows does 'see' it. That is when the xp screensaver comes on and i press 'OK' my desktop appears. Will trick around with my settings to see what happens. Thanks again.

Cheers,

iano. :)

EDIT: I have DirectInput Disabled just in case anyone asks.

if you press enter on your keyboard does it select the option on the menu?

or have you got any custom keys setup?

Hi Michael. Yes i have custom keys setup (under 'Keyboard Input' & 'Enable Custom Keyboard Controls') and this was the problem. I had the GameEX menu 'navigation' buttons mapped to my IPAC2 Player1 Buttons (MAME Default) for handiness. Everything works fine now with the MCE Remote including the Jukebox. Is it a case of either having custom keys to navigate GameEX only or MCE Remote only ? Thanks Michael for all help on this !

Cheers,

iano.
