a little thought/wondering regarding different resolutions

Im talking different resolutions on different consoles, (640x480) on all the 8-16 bit consoles, somewhat higher resolutions on the 32/64/128 bit emulators

this seems to work fine in gameex.

but what about having a lesser resolution in windows (800x600) and a higher resolution when in gameex? does that work?

and is there an option to lower the resolution when using the gameex browser function? when sitting a bit far from the TV you want to be able to read from a distance, therfore making it easier with bigger text (lower res)

what im asking is what are the viable options, whats supported and whats not? anything particular problematic regarding this you bumped on on ther road with gameex?

////

PS

how does the amulators look on a flat widescreen tV? do they get "stretched" (compared to a monitor)

:S or does black bars on the side appear in order to not screw with the original image?

I have a 27" widescreen Viewsonic flat HDTV monitor. The Windows and GameEx interface, as well as emulated games are a little horizontally stretched. I have been able to adjust a little choosing the the best native resolution the video card is putting out to the TV--as some resolutions look less stretched than others--but I haven't yet figured out how to tell GameEx to preserve the correct aspect ratio for the emulated game, as well as bezel art when it appears.
