ePSXe Set Up Problem

Hi. I'm having trouble trying to get ePSXe to run. I'm trying to get it working outside GameEX first. I have followed the instructions on ePSXe site (Help) but what happens is when i select 'Run Iso' & then game in folder it tries to launch the game (i get a black screen with a few gray lines (polygons i think) on left of screen and then freezes. Does ePSXe require a virtual drive (i have alcohol 52% installed) to mount images ? I haven't seen an option in ePSXe that allows you to select the virtual drive letter. I think it looks like a graphics driver problem or a virtual drive problem. I'm a registered GameEX user. Any ideas anyone ?

Hi. I have a P4 3Ghz(Hyper Threading) with 1Gb RAM, 300Gb hardrive, ArcadeVGA (ATI Radeon 9250 chipset) running on Windows XP Pro(SP2). I'm using Pete's OpenGL 1.76 driver (recommended on ePSXe's site for ATI Radeons. I've just burned an image of Wipeout XL and ran it from cd rom. It works fine apart from the FMV intro is slightly choppy (slight start/stop video and music speeds up/slows down slightly) but when playing the game it's ok. Don't know whats wrong. Don't think ePSXe needs to mount images either.

i have no problems running epsx from cd in gameex and mounting images works also although i only used it once

do you have problems with all games or just the one???

I find that running cd's and not iso's make for jerky sound or video playback. Make sure DMA is set on all your drives. I would also make an iso of your game and try to compare them both. Your system is fine but your video card is a little weak. I doubt that would be a problem for ePSXe. Hope you get it working the way you want it.

Hi. Thanks Michael for your help. It seems that Wipeout 2097 & Wipeout3 should work (they're the only games

i want to really play). I don't have wipeout 2097 (i was using wipeout xl - lent my copy of wipeout 2097 to a friend a few years back and i'm trying to recover it). I have wipeout3 which should work (it does from cd). I'm thinking i'm using the wrong graphics driver (but i've tried a few and things go sideways). I'll take a good look at this over the xmas holidays.

Hi. Thanks for your reply ! I've just tried what you suggested and the Full Motion Video Intro on Wipeout3 looks perfect but it still freezes on the loading screen for the first race. But at least i'm getting a bit closer to the solution. I only want to run Wipeout 2097 & Wipeout3 on ePSXe 1.6. So, unfortunately if i can't get it working with these games it's no good. But i'll look into this over the xmas holidays though !
