Offlinelist screenshots

Hi,

I am aware that is does not match all the screenshots, and it's not perfect, it was not meant to be 100%. OfflineList has a different naming format to GoodTools. GameEx just uses a little logic to do the best job it can at matching the names. I never tested Sega or Gameboy, so don't know about those. Do you get any screenshots at all with those? If your Sega and GameBoy ROMs have been renamed using GoodTools let me know I will take a look. I think GameBoy Advance ROMS might have a number in front of them in OfflineList that's probably why GameEx wont match the names. Is that the case? Cant think of a reason why Genesis would not work. Maybe GoodTools does not rename them with the full name?

I am almost certain its nothing to do with resolution or image format, GameEx probably just cant match your ROM file names to offlinelist.

Let me know.

Thanks,

Tom

Having an issue with the Offlinelist screenshots. The only system

that shows the images properly is SNES. NES only shows some of the

images. One thing I noticed it that titles that have commas in the

name do not show their respective screenshots in GameEx. Other

systems that I have tried with no success are GameBoy Advance, and

Sega Genesis. The names appear but no screenshots. I was thinking

there may be a requirement in GameEx where the screenshots need to be

a certain resolution?

Secondly, can GameEx be set to use both screenshots for each title?

This would be useful because Offlinelist creates an "a" and "b" for

each title where one shows the ingame shot and the main title shot.

Thanks,

Anthony

Well, I have not been having very good luck with this. I have tried Gameboy Advance, Gameboy Color, NES, and Genesis with no luck as far as Offlinelist screenshots. Only SNES seems to work.

Can anyone assist with this?

Thanks,

Hi, I will look into this when I get a chance.

N64 seems to work too though.

I (only) tested the feature with N64 and SNES.

Thanks.

I am using 3.42 and i have screenshots working in NES/SNES/N64/GBA, Sega Genesis/MS/GG/CD/32x, well I guess all my emulators.

I want to point out that the GOODtools naming doesn't always name the console rom and the image IDENTICALLY. The ones that are mis-named will not load the image. Usually there is some form of punctuation or abbreviation that is slightly different between the names, and it is only true for a small percentage of the images. You can fix this of course by manually editing them so the names match 100%.

Oh and if you have thousands of roms, like I do, don't expect to have images for ALL of them, and expect it to take a LONG time to manually edit the ones that don't match...

Thanks for the backup David, I appreciate it. Sometime it's hard for people to understand the compexities, and think everything should just require a one button press. This is probably partly my fault for always designing software that is highly usable although complex, but also generally peoples ignorance of technology (no critisism intended, I believe it can be overcome with effort).

I notice your running on an 850MHZ. I have made efforts to support older systems, and would really to hear you feedback on how GameEx performs on your system.

Thanks,

Tom.
