Just registered GameEx a week ago, after getting fed up with the nag-screen and since then i've got a problem. The Un-registerd version didn't have the problem below. Using GameEx 7.02.

When ik access GameEx from my Windows Media Center through My Games in MCE

everything is fine. However when i press my Media Center Button on my remote while in GameEx,

GameEx closes and MCE returns an error about my graphicscard not beeing compatile with MCE.

I have had this problem before, when I directly starting MCE on my XP (through Start Up in the Start Menu) and worked arround the problem by building in a 5 second delay into a batch file in before starting MCE.

I guess it has something to do with initialising the video drivers or releasing AGP ports or something.

I also noticed a GameEx procees still running in my taskbar, while the above mentioned error is showing.

It's just like GameEx won't release certain graphics card software or hardware so MCE can use them.

I searched the forum and read the doc's but can't find anything. Help would be much appreciated.

Hi and welcome.

GameEx is supposed to be able to check if MCE is opened when running, if you have the settings enabled. You do sometimes get that error but then GameEx should close and relaunch MCE.

Check the media center mode and the setting to check for MCE launch under tweaks/performance in the config app and let me know.

Thanks,

Tom.

Ok..so I checked, mu current settings are:

MCE Exit/Start mode: Close and Restart (Recommended)

Exit GameEx If MCE is loaded: Yes Exit If Home Button is pressed

Changing the above settings does not do any good, either it doesn't go to MCE at all when i press the green button or it just crashes to the earlier mentioned error or the screen goes black.

Furthermore i have to tell you that i'm using GameEx just for the emulator part. So i've disabled almost everything else, including the exit and config menu's. So all i have left are Mame Games, Most Played, Favorites and Emulators. All the other stuff is disabled.

Another Test Run going to MCE from GameEx 3 times:

Rebooted the system

MCE Auto Starts

My Games with the remote

GameEx starts (scrollthrough menu's couple of times)

Home Button on MCE remote

GameEx Closes and MCE starts

Watch TV and scroll through menu's

My Games with the remote

GameEx starts (scrollthrough menu's couple of times)

Home Button on MCE remote

Ploink ! Eroor incmp. Graph. Card

Error auto dissapears and MCE starts up after a short delay

Can't watch TV, but can scroll through menu's

My Games with the remote

GameEx starts (scrollthrough menu's couple of times)

Home Button on MCE remote

Ploink ! Error incmp. Graph. Card

Nothing else happens until i click away the error

Then MCE starts with no TV support

It's because Media Center and GameEx render the screen differently. What you need to do is tell Media Center to not check if the drivers are compatible.

Grab the file I attached below and install it. You run it through Media Center. On the first list of options, go in and "Disable DirectX Check". That should fix your problem.

Just ran a few quick test and everything seems to be ok. One problem though, when music is playing from TV/ Radio/MP3 etc. and i enter GameEx through MCE the music keeps playing. Very weird. Only saw this happen once, so don't nknow if it was accidental or not.

I'll do some extensive testing this weekend. Thanks for now anyway !

This doesn't seem to work any longer for me. If I invoke Media Center I get the video card error, which just remains on the screen indefinitely. If I click it to close it, I'm left at the desktop. If I then click on the GameEx icon (which is now minimized), GameEx comes up, shuts down, and starts media center again on its own. It's like it's falling alseep on the job in the background or something.

Thanks. Fixed. Will be in next release.

Good to have you back!
