I'm running gameex 4.01 with mame 89, I cannot seem to get rid of the nag screen for "there are known problems with this game" which lists things like cocktail mode flipping ,sound or video emulation not accurate. This interferes with the screen saver mode in gameex, whenever the screen saver gets to one of these games it gets stuck on the nag screen,if you wiggle the jotstick for ok the screen saver exits to the gameex menu like you would expect. Its not a huge problem when playing but I would like to make it go away there as well but it puts a big flaw into the screen saver mode.I've got the defaults in the gameex config for skip validity checks and all and my mame ini has skip disclaimer, skip gameinfo and skip validity checks all set to 1 to disable.Has anyone got a way to disable this last nag screen,Thanks.

Yeah, I have this problem too. Its only annoying because I don't otherwise need a keyboard. I was planning on just hacking it out from the MAME sources, but maybe there's a command line switch?

I was hoping for an easy command line switch also but have not found anything yet.I did see one post on arcadecontrols boards about modifying mame somehow but I couldn't follow it's details very well. You still should not need a keyboard, just wiggle the joystick for ok,but then it exits the screensaver mode.

Hi,

The only way I know of to do this is to compile your own version as said above.

There no cmd line switch and there is no hack that I know of that works.

Thanks,

Tom.

I got this response from the mame forums, would it be possible for you to include some type of filter using this list they talk about to prevent gameex from using these particular games during screen saver mode?

No. We include the warning screens for a very good reason, and people disabling them causes us nothing but trouble. However, it should be possible for you frontend to know which games have problems by parsing the -listxml output and avoid them.

GameEx already does this, has done from the beggining. You wont find attract mode launching non working games.

Unfortunatly the -listxml output reports games as fully working even though some have problems.

For example the driver, video, colours, sound all report good when screen flipping is not supported

since the lstxml output does not appear accurate enough would it be possible to incorporate an option similar to the "don't filter these roms" for the screen saver function.A place where we could list the roms for the screensaver function to ignore, that way the screen save function would work smoothly?

Wouldn't it be possible to send some left right left right left right commands after starting mame?

The games should not have any problems with this, should they?

(Like in the Emus, where you can send everything to switch to fullscreen, turn Menu Bars off and so on)

It does not work, the MAME nag screen is somehow protected against this behaviour.
