ronk48448
Hi everyone, I am using Game Ex and when I load Golden tee Fore it always starts with game throttle off. Yet if I run it just inside of mame it runs fine. Otherwise it plays in double speed. I have to press f10 everytime I load it in Game Ex to turn on throttle. Any ideas ? RedDog
Hi Ronk48448, Some additional information on your setup will be helpful. Would you please launch Golden Tee Fore using GameEx? Then exit and post your GameEx.ini and log.txt files. They are located in GameEx\LOG and GameEx\CONFIG. Are other Mame games working normally as far as throttle speed? If not, would you please provide a few other examples. Thank you.
ronk48448
Thank you so much for the quick reply! All other games work perfectly. I even checked the gtfore ini file mame creates and Throttle is set to 1 GameEx.ini log.txt gtfore06.ini
RedDog
So, something is not clicking here. The log.txt shows the following information when the game is launched:Running: cmd.exe /c C: C:\Users\Arcade\Downloads\mame\mame64.exe gtfore06 -rompath C:\Users\Arcade\Downloads\mame\roms -nowindow -joy -skip_gameinfo -keyboardprovider dinput -notriplebuffer -frameskip 0 -syncrefresh -nothrottle -nowaitvsync -video d3d Note the "-nothrottle" in the line. That is your problem. I assume that is your problem. Yet, when I review your GameEx.ini ADVANCED MAME SETTINGS > MAME OPTIONS, it shows the following:-nowindow -joy -skip_gameinfo The ADVANCED MAME SETTINGS > MAME OPTIONS is the place where launch parameters are placed for Mame. There is no throttle option in specificlaly in GameEx. The question is: Where are these additional parameters coming from so you can remove the -nothrottle command:-keyboardprovider dinput -notriplebuffer -frameskip 0 -syncrefresh -nothrottle -nowaitvsync -video d3d Do you have any plugins installed that affect the launching of games such as Custom Lists or Mame Commander Lite? I should mention that have not used these myself, but they sound like they could have this type of functionality. Plugin info is one thing we cannot see in the logs or GameEx.ini. ronk48448
Awesome. I dont believe I intentionally loaded any plugins. thank you for checking that out. I will check when I get back at it today I appreciate it. I will let you know!
ronk48448
Ok. I checked for plug ins. The mame commander lite plugin was not loaded and it wont even show up as a plug in if I try to install it. I did a PC wide search for the word throttle and i didnt get any results other than the ini files we already investigated. So I believe I am stumped myself. I'm going to add -throttle in the advanced MAME
RedDog
OK, I think I see it. Mame has a default configuration that is used for all games. It also allows a user to create a configuration on a game by game basis. You mentioned the gtfore06.ini early on, but at that point I did not understand where it fit into the picture (sorry about that). I dismissed it as the games custom config file initially because there was no key and joystick binds, which I assumed would be listed with default values. Also, the syntax in the MAME DOCS uses -throttle and -nothrottle, not throttle 0 or throttle 1. Try changing the throttle to 0 in the gtfore06.ini, save and exit and retest in GameEx. However the test goes, recheck the gtfore06.ini after you exit GameEx to see if throttle changed or is the same.
Tom Speirs
Hey RedDog I added a setting to GameEx for a smooth 60fps MAME experience a while back.. Its under display settings. Op probably turned this on.
RedDog
Aha,new stuff! Thanks @Tom Speirs @ronk48448: In your config, you do have Display Settings > MAME Sync Refresh Enabled set to YES. Would you try testing with it set to NO?
ronk48448
That display setting was it! Thanks to both of you for figuring it out! I must have turned that on at some point! I remember being in that menu now
